Why not make Industrials par with new barges?

in terms of general tankability?

With the recent barges rework working out nicely to bring those ships back into common use, why not give indys the same treatment? The Big indys like the mammoth and bestowers need a bit more tankablitily, and the transports a bit more cargo space

Coming from someone who frequently hauls way more ISK than he should in an Iteron V, I'm going to say no.

Tanked industrials already exist. They're called transports. If those are too flimsy for you, try rigged and expanded battleships.

Deep Space Transports are the way to go, though currently they are not as tanky as you'd expect.

The Devs have said that Indi's are on the Tiericide path already, just wait for it, it looks like BC's & BS will come out in about 3 months judging by Dev comments (Train BC 5 & all four cruiser 3's now if you care about BC's). So Indies will probably be next on the list after that, along with T2/Faction/Pirate frigates starting to get worked on.
