GF could also mean having the balls to undock, or even be in low/nullsec to begin with.

I think it depends on the situation.
CAIN doesn't say GF in local if we gank someone running an anomaly, that's not a good fight, it's a gank.
If we jump into an equal or larger gang and win or lose have a crazy fight, then it's a good fight and it's said in local.

Although I do like to give the ironic "GF" in local from time to time after blobbing someone, I prefer to spam them with "o7o7o7o7o7o7o7oo7o7o7o7o7o7o7o7o7o7o7o7 m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8m8"

Dunno what people get so worked up about. Learn to laugh at your own mistakes a bit! The G in the F is in the planning, not in the execution. By the time you are at that stage the F is pretty much over. A proper response to a gank can simply be:

> Good catch
> Well played
> Nice b**bs

Yeah, "Nice catch" if I have time - or just GG (Good Gank) if I'm in an expensive clone and need to get the pod out sharpish...

Yes, GF is rude.
Instead, you should say PWN3D NOOB

You can see "GF" being used both genuinely and ironically.

Seen it plenty of times.

Solo pilot warps or jumps into a bubble in 0.0 and is blabbed 20v1.

Some scrub in the blab says "GF" in local. What good fight?

Is the person trying to be rude or are they terrible at the game and think that it was actually a GF?

It means thanks for my km whoring.

Had it a few days ago too.Was flying solo in dram and got a rifter on my ass , engaged him back and his friend came in too.So ok let's see what this ship can do , no running away let's go head on.So i kill off both with only structure left and i get the 'GF' in local.Ok nice , actually they tried to gank me but might be impressed i ganked them .... nothing wrong.

SO , next day i take them dram again as it ain't a virgin any more i go roam into new territory.End off landing on a trasher. Now i know i probably won't survive this but still come on we HAVE to see what this ship can do so when he locks me i engage him.At this point i know i am probably gonna die but for ***** , giggles and fun let's do this till the end. He's hammering me down to armor while i am only getting half shield down on him so the fight seems done and he's made a nice victory and THEN his friend comes on top of me , locks me/webber on -dram + web = MAMMA WHELP- and they trash my dramiel. What happends then , a 'GF' from them in local. So i reply to him , no not a GF you had a better ship , you where on the winnig side yet STILL had to call in your freinds for help.

So yes in short 'GF' is just as meaningfull as saying 'have a nice day' to a customer you never seen before in the shop. You say it out of habbit.

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

I think we used to say "Sorry, pool's closed." when ganking and pod expressing some poor sap on the 0.0 entry chokepoints.

The real effect is that they think you are a noob.

The day I care about what joe random publord thinks about me I'll probably cancel my subs.

Beware the publord who may withhold drinks.

Most noobs are in goonswarm anyway so it makes no difference to them what you think to the everyone who isn't in goonswarm is a subhuman. I would say everyone laughs at goonies for how pathetic they have become trying to emulate a 11 year old younger brother of BOB.

GF is spoken by noobs after ganking someone.

GF and other such pleasantry's is and should be the only thing used by both sides after a well fought fight.

This is seen as elitism by noob alliances however and the spamming wall of greif, offensive porn links and ascii text designed by a 12 year old generally is normally used. These alliances now seem to live in most of 0.0, thank CCP you can block whole alliances.
