We mostly call each other by our real names, except in the rare circumstances we know someone's dev name but can't remember their real name. Or I suppose when we need to differentiate between two people with similar names (such as CCP Dolan and I, which is really annoying since we sit right next to each other).

It does happen to be awesome, shouting your real life name and watching you both turn around like "wat?"

Lol

Ever had this happen?

- CCP Big Dumb Dumb Object CCP, come come here, I wanna show you something something.
- I can't.
- Why why can't can't you?

I always use people's RL names except here on the forums and in chat channels.

Right before I made this account I watched the movie Blood Diamond. When Leo is talking to Mandy the first time, he called himself a 'Soldier of Fortune', 258 is just because it is easy to type on the number pad, straight up the middle, as a consequence, alot of video game names include the number 258 now.

Oh yeah, Masamune was a great one. He worked everybody on all sides, and always got away with it. The amazing thing is how stayed at that enthusiastic trolling for so many years. He just wouldn't go away.

My toon's name comes from a song by the post-punk band Bauhaus. Which was a radical reworking of an old T. Rex song.

The Stigman part of my name comes from 'Stig of the Dump', a childrens book from the 1960's about a caveman living in a modern day dump ...I feel akin to the out-of-ones-own-time premise. Big smile

Zuwadza comes from a previous MMO I played, that being Anarchy Online (AO), Elian Zuwadza is a unique NPC. I played for 6 years and the inclusion of this name is to pay homage to what was my first MMO and to ensure a little part of AO lives on long past its demise.

I love that song. Thank you.

Also, hate the word 'toon' - but that's just my old school D&D DM coming out and kicking WOW's ass.

I could not agree more. I will gladly read any post until I come to...that word. I stop reading any further at that point.

My online name for all my console systems has always been Sectrix, from way back when I played Unreal on the Dreamcast. I just made up a name that I thought sounded cool at the time.

Turns out a sectrix is actually a, "curve swept out by the point of intersection of two lines which are each revolving at constant rates about different points called poles".

...Yeah.

So this guy is an onomatopoeia of my real name, more or less.

Also Universal Remonster was taken. Sad

Edit: Woah, way to necro. My bad.

During my X3 times a few years back, Elmanketticks was one of my most successful Paranid freighter pilots... hauled tons of stuff. Not something I enjoy in EVE though ;) I like the name for its originality.

I went to name her and she looked like a Valerie. Tessel is a shortening of Tessellation, and also a character last name I'd used elsewhere.

My boyfriend calls me 'Kitten'. Also 'Kitten Piranha', cause I have sharp teeth and sometimes bite. So, is a combination of the two. And I just really like the name Khadijah, is a Muslim/Arabic name and the Ni-Kunni looked vaguely racially appropriate for it. Think Khadijah was Mohammed's first wife?

My alt is called Kitten Raptor for similar reasons. As in, I do dinosaur impressions when I'm tired. :)

Kuchu is a Mongolian name, and one of the Gengis Khans warriors.

Ko comes from "Jhogo Ko" from the book Game of Thrones.
