Zombies have no doubt evolved beyond what George Romero originally gave us, but I'm not sure if thousands of CGI human infested animations are scary.

Interesting that Brad is in a movie like this (world is taken to the brink and the father has to save the day) but I like his acting, so meh, I'll probably watch it based on that, than the silly looking CGI zombies.

Thumbs up or down?

Meh, thumbs down from me personally. I think Pitt is a great actor, but, aside from the Walking Dead game, I'm just done with zombies. I can't stand 'em anymore. Like, aside from the questionable CGI, it doesn't look bad...but I'm done. It's just not for me.

I share this, the whole zombie fad is so overdone now it needs a break.

There are quality shows like the Walking Dead but for Hollywood this is just getting crazy.

I do enjoy the book and the audiobook however. They are very well thought out and read like an International Crisis Treatise.

Only a few replies, but I figured as much.

More is not better.

One Zombie in a small provincial town could be shot in a creepy way, with lots of mist and woods and 'stuff'.

Having thousands of the buggers running towards the camera using CGI is just boring, especially when the film (afaict) is playing it straight and not camp or goofy. Similar Vein and case in point: Starship Troopers [1997] and its satirical and ironic take on the subject of war, in itself akin to Dr Strangelove [1964].

So, here we shall sit in 2013 with a film handling the subject of war under a backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. It might work, or it might become one of those films that you need to be able to say 'yeah, I've seen it', just 'cause.

Fake looking CGI zombies are boooooorrrriiiinngggg.

Remember when one monster you never even saw for the first hour was terrifying ? That's how you make a horror movie. By making people use their i-m-a-g-i-n-a-t-i-o-n instead of spamming them with bodyparts non stop.

Read this book several times back when no one had heard of it yet :P Trailer looks ok, I don't think it will be close to the epicness of the book. But I am a Brad Pitt fan and I think he wouldn't be in the movie unless it was going to be good. We shall see.

The zombies in the book dont run. I have a feeling this is not going to be the only thing changed by hollywood.

And I was so looking forwards to the battle of YonkersSad

I liked the trailer, but the waves of CGI zombies is stupid looking. I don't know if I'll see it or not.

In the book i belive the zombies did not run, they shambeld in great hordes. This looks more like 28 days later on steroids

I dislike the new generation of fast zombies and movies that have them. Not just because of the running, but because of their canny ability to work together and not targeting each other despite being portrayed insane with rage or hunger. They're simply not zombies anymore in my book. They're generic plague carrying monsters. The only reason they're called zombies at this point is because someone at marketing thinks it'll sell better.

The books are always better than the movie.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Hard to agree with that statement.

2 things:

1: Two people will not have the same level of imagination - no matter how good the writing is written.
2: Movies are Movies; books are books - never the twaine.

Name a movie better than the book. This is almost a universal law, the limitations of film can never live up to a book. It has a lot to do with film length, but even LoTRs couldn't really touch the books with 3 movies. Money being no object 6 or 10 movies still probably wouldn't have done it. We'll see how the Hobbit series does with 3 movies. With that amount of time they might be able to get most of the book in film form but I doubt you'll find many tolkein fans saying the movie was better than the book. With Game of thrones being a series they get to extend each book over several hours but it still doesn't touch the book.

Looks like they're doing the same with Z they did to I am Legend. Use the name of a popular book and a big star to make a movie nothing like the original book.

The only movie based on a book that turned out well has been the lord of the rings.

This is something they wondered over in the book i believe, the uncanny way the zombies knew what was what. The zombies could tell whom was a zombie and whom wasn't
