Even had me detune me guitar to drop D.

On an Epi Dot ...

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Okay, so I'll add a list too.

Most of these don't actually use the track names. I've listed them by the game and chapter/level they appear in, or if they're Intro themes and suchlike.

I have literally hundreds more that I love too, but these are the ones that come to mind after a quick scouring of YouTube Big smile

Half-Life - "We've Got Hostiles!"

I remember first coming across the US Marines in Half-Life back in 1998 with this thumping soundtrack, and having the most epic gun battle I've ever had in an FPS that I still remember clearly today.

Half-Life - "Forget About Freeman!"

This is a bit of a weird track, but I like it. Also good to be firing a short stocked HK MP5 to Big smile

Half-Life - "Unforseen Consequences"

This track, while not music gives a really creepy ambiance to the opening scenes of Half-Life after the resonance cascade.

Homeworld - "Return To Kharak"

"No one's left... Everything's gone... Kharak is burning..." Quite possibly the most powerful, gut wrenching and emotionally involving scene in video game history.

Resident Evil 2 - "Save Room Theme"

Peaceful and ambient, always a welcome break from the horrors of Raccoon City.

Metal Gear Solid II: Sons Of Liberty - "Main Theme"

Harry Gregson-Williams is a god of a composer, and this opening intro theme sets the scene perfectly for MGS2.

Deus Ex : Human Revolution - "Menu Theme"

Simple, understated, ambient. Perfect.

Deus Ex : Human Revolution - "End Credits"

Atmospheric, perfect for the setting and awesome composition.

EVE Online - "Below The Asteroids"

Fantastic piece by our very own Jón Hallur Haraldsson Big smile

EVE Online - "Red Glowing Dust"

One of my most favorite gaming tracks, this always helps me relax. Another by CCP's Jón Hallur Haraldsson.

Final Fantasy X - "Blitzball"

Awesome soundtrack to open Final Fantasy X with Big smile

Final Fantasy X - "To Zanarkand"

This is up there with "Red Glowing Dust". Epic memories of Final Fantasy X

Sonic The Hedgehog - "Sonic Boom"

Typically SEGA, typically Sonic, typically cheesy. This made it's debut in the game "Sonic CD".

Sonic The Hedgehog - "Sonic CD Ending"

Again, cheesy '90s SEGA stuff, but still awesome Big smile

Streets Of Rage - "Intro Theme"

Old school, but still awesome. First Debut was on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive in 1991.

Ace Combat : Shattered Skies - "Megalith"

Sweet piece that really brings some awesome drama to the last mission in Shattered Skies :)

Ace Combat : Shattered Skies - "Menu Theme"

Cool ambient track for the Shattered Skies menu system and aircraft selection screens.

Ace Combat : Shattered Skies - "Emancipation"

Another awesome theme from the NAMCO game, really suits the franchise well.

Crysis Warhead - "Main Theme"

Fantastic piece that really goes well with Crysis gameplay. Cool

Crysis 2 - "Main Theme"

Awesome follow up to the first game's soundtrack.

Final Fantasy X - "Luca"

Listen to this on an audio setup with a decent pair of subwoofers, and prepare for your ears to bleed from all the win that comes out of them. It's awesome :D

Skies Of Arcadia - "Main Theme"

I remember playing this on the Dreamcast. Awesome game.

Metropolis Street Racer - "Club Paris"

Another Dreamcast title. This track was always a favourite when drifting an R-34 GT-R through downtown Tokyo Big smile

Tokyo Extreme Racer - "Intro"

Intro theme to one of the most awesome racing games to hit the PS2 outside the Gran Turismo franchise. Epic game, epic car customization, awesome gameplay.

Man oh man, there's too many good soundtracks, let alone songs, that come to mind.

Anarchy Reigns/Max Anarchy has quite possibly the most fun, for lack of a better word, soundtrack I've ever heard.

Vindictus just has a plain ol' great soundtrack. It fits sooooooo well with whatever is going on on screen.

The entire Chrono Trigger soundtrack is also great, but it has one of my most favorite tracks of all time, Wind Scene ~ World Map Theme 3

And that's all I'm gonna list before I sit here for another 2 hours and end up listing half the soundtracks I've listened to lol

Nothing, in my mind, will ever beat the epic Chrono Trigger soundtrack. Particularly Magus's Theme.

May I suggest This one for you

My own input:

Here's a list of damn good ones. I gauge how good they are by how fitting they were to the game atmosphere and such. Doesn't have to be a full orchestra to be good, even 16 bit music can be amazing.

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time - Hyrule Field The one and only classic!

Valkyrie Profile - Blameless Thoughts (dat bass)

Star Ocean 3 - The Divine Spirit of Language Just an awesome song for a japanese RPG's feel

Minecraft OST 1 despite being super minimalistic, minecraft's music is so relaxing :D it's also a good mining song for eve just to kick back

Baroque - Sinful Eyes this game is one of those games that you marvel at the soundtrack and wish the game itself could have been better to popularize the amazing music.

Terranigma - Mountains pinnacle of 16 bit era music

Virtual On Cybertroopers - Transition most amazing sounding bass riffs

Metroid Prime - Crashed Space Pirate Frigate
Metroid Prime - Phendrana Drifts So fitting for the environment in the game...Retro Studios are such great game developers. If CCP took a page from the book of any game developers, I would hope it would be Retro the most. Such consistent makers of top notch games.

Tales of Symphonia - Ozette Beautiful haunting track from a village within a dark forest

Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Snowy Mountains I typically can't stand the soundtracks of shooters, but this song is very well done

Monster Hunter Tri Theme one of the best game orchestras (up there with the zelda orchestra)

Skyrim - Masser
Oblivion - Glory of Cyrodiil
another incredible game orchestra

Star Wars Rebel Strike - Dogfight - i wouldn't mind this being a mission theme in Eve :P

Resident Evil Zero - Training Facility 2
Resident Evil 4 Soundtrack - Infiltration
Resident Evil 4 - A Strange Pasture
Resident evil music in general is extremely well done

Chrono Trigger - Lavos Battle Okay, this is a remix, but it really does justice to the originals...and is very awesome

F-Zero GX - Casino Palace
F-Zero GX - Planet Colors One of the best electronic soundtracks

NieR Gestalt - Ashes of Dreams One of the best emotional soundtracks

I took out the mario and such for the more serious crowd, but there are plenty of great ones from there as well.

That's all i've got :P

Too many to list, but I'll mention a few anyway.

As has already been mentioned, the entire Mechwarrior 2 (all three games: 31st Century Combat, Ghost Bear's Legacy, and Mercenaries) soundtrack was epic.

The Oblivion and Skyrim soundtracks. Oblivion had great atmospheric music in general, but the Skyrim soundtrack too it to a whole 'nother level, with the main theme being one of the best I've ever heard.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-_g8NZr1tA
There's also a metal-ized version of it that someone did which is also pretty awesome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDE2VQzghp4

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and its expansion, Throne of Bhaal. I'll just link the two main themes, but there definitely other good songs on the soundtrack, so check them out.
Main theme for Shadows of Amn:

Throne of Bhaal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB7T6Kd9cYg

As has already been mentioned, "I am the One" from the Dragon Age soundtrack was awesome, and the main theme wasn't half bad.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdKwLkEGjhg

While I wasn't impressed with most of the Neverwinter Nights 2 Soundtrack, the main theme for the Storm of Zehir expansion is absolutely awesome.

Oooooooh my god, almost forgot about the Shatter soundtrack. For something as simple as a brick-breaking game (albeit a really good one), they spared no expenses in making the soundtrack.

All Zelda games had great soundtracks, but Wind Waker's Dragon Roost Island theme is my favorite Zelda song for the only Zelda game I ever truly enjoyed.

Unreal Championship 2: TLC, my favorite Unreal game with '04 being a close second, just had an absolutely flawless soundtrack

Technically not from a video game, but still kickass old school video game music.

"In the void is virtue, and no evil. Wisdom has existence, principle has existence, the Way has existence, spirit is nothingness." ~Miyamoto Musashi
