It has been mentioned before, but I think that one thing that is limiting the excitement for the New Eden Open is the fact that no one knows who these teams are. In contrast to the Alliance tournament, there is no direct affiliation. My mission is to change this, but I also am in the dark on some of these teams as well.

So, for those teams that are so inclined, please introduce yourselves in this thread. Tell us whether you are backed by an alliance, a small group, or a single person (e.g., Tinkerhell and Alts?!?!). Who are your star pilots? Include anything that might be interesting.

Even if you are not affiliated with a team, but can contribute, please do so!

I will be doing some independent research in addition and will be posting my findings on www.wunder-bet.com. Lets try to make this a fun and successful tourney!

Why Dash is the Pandemic Legion Team w/ Captain Elise Randolph.

Good call on the info part. It isn't like Alliance Tournament where we know who the alliances are or can at least stalk them on Eve Who The player teams are a dynamic new element to the New Eden Open, but I'm also forgetful as hell. I need a list.

I am team captain for "Something Else" formerly known as "****** Strength" which is PG13 as far as I am concerned. X

Our team has 7 TEST pilots and a representative from Razor, Goons, and FCON. We self-funded for this one as TEST didn't want to sponsor us due to the format/prize-pool.

We have Taco Rice again this year, who you may remember as our always entertaining logi pilot. We also picked up the team captain of Razor for the last two ATs, sevyn nine. I promised him I would take care of all the BS and he could just show up and fly.

Looking forward to the tournament and feeling good about our team.

@CCP: Is it possible to post (here or on the NEO site) a list of captains for the public? This would certainly be helpful.

If not, perhaps someone who was online for the bidding process has a chat log they could post or send me? Then I could try to dig the captains out that way and compile a list.

It is just a shame that our original team name Conmen's Internet Crime Fighting Force of Mohawk Induced Goggle Wearing Awesomeness had to be shortened to this new travesty.

However it is good that the team captains have been released, but I feel more should be done to publicise this tournament. As it stands, apart from people who are just enthusiastic to watch eve tournament fights, compared to the Alliance Tournament where everyone is rooting for someone and eve politics are involved, there is little to draw people in and get them excited about this.

It would maybe have been effective to have had some sort of eve press conference a week before the tournament, where the team captains were interviewed and asked to give information about their teams.

I just feel that something needs to be done to make this more interesting for the eve community at large.

Definately agreed with the above. A way to introduce players to the masses will keep people interested, and rooting for a certain team, as in other tournaments for other games.

A quick teamspeak interview with captains may be a wise decision?

It is just a shame that you thought this was a good team name to begin with.

Very cool, thanks. One note, there is a discrepancy between this list
and the one posted on the community site. Here there is a team " The
Reputation Cartel", while the community site mentions a "The Gentelmen
Renegades". Which is correct?

Much Crying Old Experts is formed from the USTZ component of the failheap-challenge forums.

We're virtually all long-running bittervets, with a few exceptions. Expect to see a few well-known tournament regulars, some names familiar from eve videos (mostly solo and small gang), and a couple of lesser known pilots who I assure you are as good as the better known names.

This is a pretty cool initiative, seeing as a lot of those people are talented yet probably don't have a specific alliance to back them up. For all the bad things that have been said about this tournament (some rightfully so, some not as much), the way teams are built in this format is a welcome change.

The team which appears as "The Gentleman Renegades" in the dev blog has asked that their name be changed to "The Reputation Cartel" and will appear as such in further media.

Hey everybody,

I'm the team captain for "The Exiled Gaming". We're representing our small HighSec alliance in this tournament. We don't have much experience and we don't have too many skillpoints. Looking at our first opponent "Something Else", we might get vaporized without even firing a single shot. But we decided on spending the ISK and time for this because we love the game and we want to actually take part in the events offered.

We wanna thank CCP for having us play this great game, thus ensuring that humanity isn't forced to play WoW. And we definitely want to thank everybody that's not laughing too hard after we got killed by those TEST guys. :)

Let's have fun and some good fights,

Hi, I am the Captain for the team Goggle Wearing Internet Crime Fighters.

We are a mixed alliance team, but with most members hailing from the alliance Suddenly Spaceships. My team has a mixture of tournament veterans like myself and people who whilst being PVP enthusiasts, have never had the opportunity to fly in an EVE tournament before.

We would all like to thank OWN3D for making this tournament possible. Having mixed alliance teams just makes this tournament all the more open for people, like many on my team, who would not normally have the opportunity to take part in what for many is the most fun form of PVP this game has to offer.

We would also like to thank CCP, for trying their hardest to make this tournament format work and giving us another chance to have some awesome fun in an eve tournament.

I hope this tournament is a success, I know there will be many lessons learnt on how to make a non-alliance tournament work, but I hope this tournament is successful enough to guarantee more in the future.

Good luck everyone, and I hope teams can strive to keep their in-game bitterness towards each others alliances separate from this fine tournament.
