It is sad that they've just dropped such a promising area of development. The least they could do is some small iteration, a few extra clothing items here, an improvement to the next store, some processing recourse improvement in the engine... just little things would at least show that they haven't let it die.

CCP have been talking a lot about letting the players know that they haven't just dropped all of their previous features and that they want to top making jesus features and expand on current content. Trouble is, by dropping all development on WiS they have done exactly the opposite of that.

It would be nice to at least hear from CCP on this. Although I imagine it's a strict no no topic for anyone in CCP to comment on.

Oh yes, it was so promising that it took them 5 years to give us one room with a graphics system so intense that top-end computers would overheat after 20 minutes. People are just so excited about an aspect of the game that less than 1% of the active population has switched on.

Yeah and get rid of that enter the cq button, it's an eyesore. First you must give us gameplay reasons to load the goddamn thing.

That's the point of talking about it.
So CCP can see we are interested in having it Meaningful.

What do you consider meaningful WiS content?

Dev's own words "have a feature that is its own functional ecosystem of gameplay then hooks into the greater ecosystem of EVE as a whole, and it provides good replayability. There have to be ways to get better at it, ways to profit from it but also ways to take risks and lose."
http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3430
meaning not a bunch of dudes emoting each other dressing up in nex items, like some dogshit zynga game, or have a redundant feature like player shops when people can just alt-r
The recent dev posts seem to be in the correct direction.

I can apreciate that, and this Forum Post Team Avatar and the future of our prototype shows a good picture that they are taking their time with it.

I think the OP, is just a bit Space crazy wanting to walk the halls a bit.

As long as the players are given a glimps of what is to come later, we will accept little steps, like opening the door and going to Talk in local chat while standing in a space bar. (Insert Joke)

Let's be frank here, you pulled that stat straight out of your ass.

There was a poll on the forums quite recently that showed that greater than half have it turned on and that half of the people who dont have it turned on would want it on if it wasn't such a resource hog. That may just be a small sample size (ie, the forumk users), but it seems to roughly represent the opinions of people I talk to in game.

The "WiS is bad" crowd gets smaller and less vocal every passing day. Your the minority my friend.

I get cabin fever. After a roam and a good couple of kills, I want to do something relaxing. Usually I just hang around and chat on TS3 with the fleet mates that haven't departed yet. It would be so much nicer if we could all dock up and chat in the same virtual space.

It sure will have walking in the closet content. You'll be able to do really neat new things like board a new destroyer from there and get into space, board a newly redesigned frigate or cruiser and go out in space or maybe board a bait ship and go get suspect flagged....in space.

since you mention overheating im assuming that you either built your computer yourself and did a terrible job of it (but spent upwards of £1000 so think that makes it good), or you have a rig so old and encrusted in crap that you should be ashamed.

I have a computer built on a budget and is now a couple of years out of date and it handles two instances of captains quarters on two separate screens absolutely fine, along with a bunch of other programs in the background.

If you are talking about small amount of people actually going into CQ, take into consideration, that there is no reward, nor any risk in doing so. What will you do? Stare in the floor all time? Push that door button to the tact of ? Make another one "forever alone" photoshop collage?

Architecture is there, content is not.

Right don,t forget the ones who never opens the case and clean out the dust every now and then.

ands this is turning into we demand gameplay in Ambulation again, even if CCP never talked about it before Incarna other then some board game in a bar.
Don,t get me wrong ,if added great ,but if they stick to the original plan from before Incarna ,it is just as great.

edit: and another one who thinks the Carbon engine exist for 5 years

I want windows that look outside so I can see whio is camping me into station, I want black markets in filthy corners of the stations, I want space ponies to ride on through the halls of stations (except minmatar stations, which would give my pony black lung) and i also want fan picture posters of my favorite ISDs and GMs to hang on my CQ walls.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Technically there is. Gambling at least, and it's player made content!

I can understand why you'd want more avatar-to-avatar player interaction, typed communication clearly isn't your thing. Roll

When WIS first launched, it was literally causing the nVidia ti560, that CCP was pushing as the card to get when WIS came out, to catch fire.

It was not the result of bad computers, but of bad code. Fortunately, that code has been fixed, but as a result of that fiasco, many of us will not even look at captains quarters.

Inappropriate signature removed, CCP Phantom.
