Cybernoid 2 / C64 main theme was always one of the best. Can't beat the phat SID bass lines.

Cybernoid 2 (C64)

Zoids C64 was very memorable too. (Even though the song itself was not Hubbards own, but at that time it was pretty common to make a very similar versions. Check Last Ninja 2 office level music and Tangerine Dream - Midnight in Tula for example).

Gods Amiga: Linky

And this beautiful piece of music from the PS3 game Journey

I'm giddy that the OP resurrected this thread. I'm a HUGE fan of epic (and good) game music.

My favorite is the theme song to Divinty II Eco Draconis. The Russian composer, Kirill Pokrovsky, is fabulous.

Just recently, I found the whole album for free. \o/ It was from a legit fan site but I don't remember where. (and Pokroskry offers his music on his (last I looked) antiquated site.

I will listen to the submissions here and hope that I have a few to add to my YouTube collection. Big smile

I like/love most of Bioware's stuff, and to this day I get an earworm from Mass Effect 1 & 2 -- Edit: esp. the Saren (not Sarum) soundtrack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04R_KDSl3AA

I'd have to say the music from Entropia is very fitting to Eve, and good to listen to. Too bad the game isn't the greatest. At least you can download the music for free.

Monkey Island theme. 1990-1997, 1 2 or 3.

Dungeon Keeper Theme, 1997 or so.

Master of Orion II had some nice themes. I always picked Uncreative races because too many choices is a bad thing.

And, yeah- just about the entire Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack. That game was lightning in a bottle, they've never recaptured it.

I mowed lawns for an entire summer in 1989, bought myself a Roland MT-32 for my old IBM 386 PS/2.
Music from the original Wing Commander I and II, older Sierra 'Quest' games, and Ultima games blew me away on a regular basis. People with Ad-Libs and Sound Blasters didn't know what they were missing.

Some classic scifi gaming music from system shock. Title music and music from the reactor level. It's one of the few games I wish someone would remake, since the basic design and story is good enough to be enjoyable even today, but at the same time it suffers from easily fixable things like awkward movement controls.

Half Life has by far the most atmospheric OST ever

It won pretty much every GOTY in 98 for a reason, it's a simple FPS but driven by atmosphere and some semblence of a story.

EVE online is the fishermans friend of MMO's. If it's too hard you are too weak.

Turrican is amazing and still, for some reason, never gets old. When I got a raspberry pi, hooked it up to an old TV, installed an Amiga emulator on it and started playing it again. Music for it is timeless.

Plane of Innovation

I always loved this one from Everquest. The Plane of Innovation music. Very Danny Elfman'ish. It's pretty epic at about 1:40.

Also, the Oblivion soundtrack is pretty nice.

Shocked that this hasn't been posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEPDaWmWN60

In terms of prep music, it nailed it.

and led through to this one in the follow-up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V974MkN7v94

the follow-up's intro is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpooLFr_qE4 and picks up around 2:00

But this is in the time of: College Music, so forgive the interest!

Nothing, in my mind, will ever beat the epic Chrono Trigger soundtrack. Particularly Magus's Theme.
