It's not the PVE crack fest that world of war craft provides druggies. It's the allowable grief play and brutal losses that make eve great. Each day some noob on the dev team forgets this and slowly cuts another part of eve off which is slowly killing the game. The massive buff to mining ship HP was very dumb, the ******** war dec system that allows F&^S to hide in high sec unmolested alongside NPC corps is also full tard mode.

Too bad that sound effect has been gone for a long time now. Maybe you can poke someone next to you to bring it back?

I would love to articulate why? If I could, perhaps I could explain it to my friends/family. 99% of them don't get the 3 monitor/3 accounts at a time. Although, I'm getting some good nerd-cred this way...

But, I guess I'll give it a try.

A game that:

  • frustrates a noob into making the learning curve a sort of PVE (I almost rage quit 3 times first week)
  • has a meta-game so involved you never are 'not' playing
  • brings back fond memories of playing Elite as a kid (C-64 FTW)

.... plus just about everything said ^.

I too had 3 monitors and 3 accounts, everytime one of my wifes friends would come over and see it for the first time they would ask why and just not understand lol.
