My alliegance is not to either side of this coming escalation of aggression. The left would have my head in a jar, figuratively or literally. The right would make of me a pawn in a meaningless game of Empire. I am merely a beast of burden seeking a third path away from the madness I see on the horizon.

That path will wind between the shadows and dark places that comfort and cajole the true madmen in this cosmic cacophony.

That I remain off the grid to either side's machinations keeps my feet firmly planted on that path.. Think of me what you will.. I strive for your disregard..

The purpose was served, I know a little more of you, and you think a little less of me.. And I am sure my question is still spinning in the heads of many. Whether the answers suggested themselves or not.

If I may, sir;

Avoid length and poetry. It does not serve your purpose.

His spirit and conviction were already broken years ago.

Ahh, but poetry is such a lovely form of abstract discourse, my dear.. We say what we mean, without meaning what we say. If you see what I mean? It simply reflects on who I am, without revealing too much about what I want... Who knows, maybe I am having a crisis of faith? Maybe my faith is strengthened in the casual dismissal of my cognative ability and sanity...? Mad, they say. Utterly and hopelessly mad.. The truth is a three edged sword.

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

After being removed from leadership, you may want to err on the side of caution.

I wouldn't want you to fracture a limb on my account, old man.

I was around to help drive your kind out of the Bleak Lands in 107. And I'll be around to help defeat you this time as well.

Why do you look for meaning in what I say? I am mad, remember.. Does a madman have a purpose? Beyond entertaining his own madness, that is..

First you dismiss me as meaningless and then seek to ascribe some meaning to my words? What is that old addage about insanity?

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

Bloody Omir's coming back
Nation's sympathy is slack
Angels tred on ferrous wings
Rabbits vie for ancient things
Serpents dance in newfound throes
While Empire's shun the rising woes
Mad, mad Roga insanely sings
But, who doth hold the dangling strings?

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

No, I am doing the opposite of ascribing meaning to your words. I am telling you that you keep opening your mouth and noises keep coming out, but they don't mean anything. If you try really hard, you can uses these sounds to convey sentences that have meaning behind them.

You can SAY things that MEAN things.

Ahh, say things like, Quafe, in my opinion, tastes dandy..

Yes, I could, but I choose not to. I have no little bugs in my brain prohibiting such with the threat of scrambling my grey matter in response to an errant statement that runs contrary to the overmind... I am my own overmind, any sense I wish to convey is a choice of my own inherent desires..

Maybe I am distracting you, tying up those cognative processes, so you don't inflict your twisted designs upon hapless multitudes?

Maybe I just like messing with you?

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

Poetry is quite lovely, sir. I adore the form but am rather poor at it, though I try from time to time.

I'm afraid that I don't see what you mean, sir, and that is rather my point. Poetry is effective only when it can communicate its point. If the reply to a poem is confusion and irritation it has failed. A poem should intrigue and invite thought.

But, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be accusing you of poor poetry when my own is as poor as it is. Perhaps you ought to use something other than free verse? Your later, more structured attempts are more appealing.

Oh my gods this whole exchange made me laugh out loud.

I'd been avoiding contributing to this thread, but I had to chime in and say thank you, pilot, for the chuckle.
