I'm currently learning the game, and being all but 5 days old in the game I am by no means experienced.

I like to read the forum and blog posts about the game in general, I think EVE has an awesome community as a whole...

A subject I seem to be crossing time and time again - is the one of carebears vs their opposites....

The argument that the risk of being ganked and losing your assets is "unfair", or discourages new players to join the game, should not be as "brutal" as it is, etc etc...

When I read on this subject, I refer to EVE, the description of the game, and how it was designed.

It seems to me like the game has been designed to be this way, people can gank you, people can steal from you, people can scam you, people can do what ever they want to you... to me that is the game, that is how the game is designed and intended... that is EVE.

And that is why I downloaded the free trial a few days ago, and that is why on my second day in the game... I logged into my account management to enter my credit card details and pay for this amazing game.

My opinion on the subject of "carebears" is one of little attention, sympathy or consideration... I think that "carebears" should be seen and not heard, they should receive no attention or consideration from the developers of this great game, and the reason for that is simple...

The things that carebears disagree with/want to be changed in order to benefit their own doings within the game... these things are EVE... that is the game, the way it was intended to be... if somebody is able to target and engage you as a target in hisec, and the game mechanics allow for that to be done... that is the design of the game, if you don't like that then you may choose to stop playing...?

People are subscribing to the game because it is a great game, "a sandbox risk/reward hardcore game in which you are never safe"... THAT is appealing, that is thrilling and that is fun... if you change that, and alter the description to "safe mining where you can mine asteroid belts and never be killed"... that is not appealing, that to me sounds boring and I would have never entered my credit card details and given my money to CCP if that was the case.

Just my opinion on the trending topic, thanks.

Yeah. I don't know why people are so hell bent on converting Hi-Sec into Low Sec. You don't see people going on and on about making Null and Low carebear land do you?.

Personally I don't see any problems with scamming and ganking, but apparently people just want to kill people in Hi-Sec without Concord getting involved.

CCP isn't going to change the mechanics that massively affect a large portion of their player base (either way). They aren't going to bring Hi-Sec to Null or Low or vice versa.

People just need to stop making alts just to try convince CCP to do something they'll never do anyways.

Yup.

OP knows too much game detail for a 5 Day Old toon.

Almost EVERY SINGLE ONE of the "Hate Carebears/High Sec" Poasts, esp the ones that whine, are fake and planted deliberately. The wording tries to be ever so too carefully naive.

A true Carebear will just quit, and complain to the company (CCP)....not to the very audience causing the "grief".

I agreed with the OP right up until the comment about Carebears not deserving any attention from the devs. I have stated this many times, stand by it and will state it again. The PvP element of EVE is in the minority and without the Carebears in HighSec, EVE would surely die.

I am not sure how many of you would be able to keep your devs and continue working on a game after it loses more than half of its player base let alone hire more devs and grow.

The vast majority of EVE players do not visit the forums, do not watch or read the blogs, do not attend Fanfest and simply don't care. They want to play their game their way and thats it. The vast majority of EVE players are not PVP minded. Mining, making ISK and being rich is the game to them.

Also...see my sig.

What makes you so sure of that?

EVE had a series of expansions catering towards the highsec carebear, Tyrannis and Incursion. Fixing problems in PvP went to the backburner as CCP put out expansion after expansion of riskfree, high reward PI and Incursions. As a result, EVE nearly died. What we learned is that the exclusively "no-PVP" (though they reserve the right to flood the economy with risk-free commodities and ISK) is not as numerous or as vital as some forum whiners thought they'd be.

Alt.. Sounds like a pirate alt..

I'm not a PvPer, though I will do fleets with my Corp. I'm not out to kill others. So that would make a carebear (to my knowledge). The OP is stating that I shouldn't have a voice? Everyone in this game should have a voice. Do I want to see us loose HiSec? HELL NO!!! Why? We need a break from Low/NullSec. I've seen HiSec used to build and rebuild toon to PvP in NullSec. When things fall apart in NullSec for that toon (Also it seems it will happen) then HiSec us used to rebuild and retool for another round. If this is lost, the player base would diminish and PvP will die.

Everyone has a voice.

The best way to not see your post polluted by trolls and your work (writting a correctly built post with meaningful content) wasted by idiots is to never create a thread in "General Discussion". It's just troll-land. You'll get much better discussions in the other subforums. Yes EVE it's also that *sighs*

Ain't that the truth about GD.

But you'd be surprised how much trolling is in Science & Industry. And it's carebears trolling carebears, at that !

I'm not sure what you mean by this... maybe you didn't read my post properly? I haven't yet been ganked in the game, though I'm quite excited to experience it.

Simple, go to your closest adult shop and buy a good wip. Go back home and ask your strongest friend to wip your but till you fall down.

But if you really want to experience it just open your star map and set destination to Amamake, Aunen or even EC-P8R. You'll see it's a lot of fun for you Lol

You get it, Grats! glad to see other people who play this game how it was advertised instead of trying to make it their own idealized verison.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia
