Jetcan-mining in my new retriever, when suddenly some guy shows up and then all the ores are suddenly his? and it says that if i want to take from my floating cargo im steaing from him? i mean WTF i just put 27k veldspar in there and then its his?! wtf is going on...

If you really wanted it you shouldn't have put it inside an insecure can.

I would say “Welcome to EVE” and explain all the things a newbie needs to know about this game…

old trick. He most probably took all your ore out of your can, and put it in to his own.
Its done in the hopes that you don't notice so he can get a easy kill.

on the off chance that you're not trolling...

open market -> find "Giant Secure Container" -> purchase
go to belt -> anchor can(s)* -> leave ore in secure cans.

* You may need Anchoring at Level 1 to do this. Also, you can only anchor in 0.7 and lower.

Jet canning is the stupidest thing you can do in HS.

~or enjoy fill and dump, fill and dump, fill and dump.... (In a Hulk its not too bad, really sucks balls in a Ret though)

Err... the only things you truly "own" in Eve are items that are actually sitting in your hangar in an NPC station. Outside of your hangar, your stuff, to varying degrees of practicality, can be taken from you (or destroyed) in some form of PvP.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Because these are things you learn, oh, roughly around day 2 or so of your exposure to EVE, and your character was created in mid 2010…

The disconnect between the two, even if you created a trial account back then and activated it very recently, is mighty suspicious.


Anyway, if you really are that new, here's a lesson for you that you need to take to heart pretty much immediately: you are never “just minding your own business” in EVE. It is not a supported feature of the game, and it is impossible to do so due to how the game is designed.

If not a troll welcome, and remember rule #1 of eve.

Also when you undock your ship you consent to PVP of everykind that includes jetcan mining. Also he was probly flashy red to you when he first stole the can, you could do two things, continue to mine but haul every time your ship is full or get in another ship and go back and shoot him.

Personally, just keep mining and consider the lost ore as a down payment for learning in Eve.

Oh and remember rule #1

He doesn't want the ore, he wants to blow you up. If you shoot him, or take it back (thus becoming a 'thief' yourself) he can shoot you without concord splooging all over the belt.

This is a thing called 'can flipping', I'm not going to explain the aggression mechanics here but a quick google search should tell you what you need to know.
