I'm currently learning the game, and being all but 5 days old in the game I am by no means experienced.

I like to read the forum and blog posts about the game in general, I think EVE has an awesome community as a whole...

A subject I seem to be crossing time and time again - is the one of carebears vs their opposites....

The argument that the risk of being ganked and losing your assets is "unfair", or discourages new players to join the game, should not be as "brutal" as it is, etc etc...

When I read on this subject, I refer to EVE, the description of the game, and how it was designed.

It seems to me like the game has been designed to be this way, people can gank you, people can steal from you, people can scam you, people can do what ever they want to you... to me that is the game, that is how the game is designed and intended... that is EVE.

And that is why I downloaded the free trial a few days ago, and that is why on my second day in the game... I logged into my account management to enter my credit card details and pay for this amazing game.

My opinion on the subject of "carebears" is one of little attention, sympathy or consideration... I think that "carebears" should be seen and not heard, they should receive no attention or consideration from the developers of this great game, and the reason for that is simple...

The things that carebears disagree with/want to be changed in order to benefit their own doings within the game... these things are EVE... that is the game, the way it was intended to be... if somebody is able to target and engage you as a target in hisec, and the game mechanics allow for that to be done... that is the design of the game, if you don't like that then you may choose to stop playing...?

People are subscribing to the game because it is a great game, "a sandbox risk/reward hardcore game in which you are never safe"... THAT is appealing, that is thrilling and that is fun... if you change that, and alter the description to "safe mining where you can mine asteroid belts and never be killed"... that is not appealing, that to me sounds boring and I would have never entered my credit card details and given my money to CCP if that was the case.

Just my opinion on the trending topic, thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by this... maybe you didn't read my post properly? I haven't yet been ganked in the game, though I'm quite excited to experience it.

A 5 day old player would not care about the forums, nor have this much info on this game, you wouldn't even know that PvP pilots call you a carebear nor would you understand what *ganked* meant, you are an alt

I have been playing EVE for a matter of days... though I have been playing games for many years, I'm a fast learner, I love to read and research about the games I am playing, and forums are the first thing I tend to look for when picking up a new game - especially MMORPGs

Agree the post does not read like a true 5 day old player.

How do I play this game?

What are the tutorials?

Where can I find a walk through of EVE?

What should I do to make the most isk?

Most new players have no idea what a gank is until it happens to them.

That is the mentality of 5 day old new players.

A new player who "got" EvE. I like that.

The usual experience of an EvE player after undstanding the game is to be forum flamed by those who do not got it and do not want to adapt.

Nothing new, welcome anyways Blink

How do I play this game?: Log in.

What are the tutorials?: Tutorials are usually things to help you learn the basics.

Where can I find a walk through of EVE?: Well personally I use google, reading through guides and tutorials on getting started in PvP, ships, fits and their roles.

What should I do to make the most isk?: This is something I have not researched at this point, I was lucky enough to have some really awesome guys reach out to my first forum post and help me out with some isk to get started, major help.

Most new players have no idea what a gank is until it happens to them?: Ganking is not exclusive to EVE, although I believe in EVE - a gank is when players gain intel on a ship carrying valuable cargo, and then kill it to loot the cargo... ganked.

Lol, this almost sounds like "those greasy liberals shouldn't be allowed a voice!" Not to get political or anything...

People from both sides of the fence whine endlessly about things they don't like in the game. A lot of the time, it's pathetic like "I don't want to be ganked flying through my own high-sec just because I decided to join my faction militia," or "nerf the Falcon, it's ECM is too powerful and they keep killing me."

It would be foolish, though, to ignore one group of players just because they don't fit your expectations of how the game should be played, and every now and again, a legitimate complaint comes up that the devs have to deal with. Like the broken incursion mechanics when it first started up and people were getting concorded on incursions in high sec.

Everyone playing the game has an opinion - how seriously that opinion is taken is not determined by how you choose to play the game, but by the merits of the opinion.

“Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.” - Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen, Pithum Nullifier Training Manual c. YC104

*lol*

When i was five days old i already knew more of the mechanics than
people who played this games for years.

There are, unlike most of you, actually intelligent people out there who know how to find information,
read that information and even understand it. They are actually interested in finding this information,
because they like to learn and understand the things they use ... unlike most of you.

Just because the average is idiocy, doesn't mean that everybody is an idiot.

Great Post,

I completely agree with you, people play this game because it is awesome, not because of risk free ISK.

It's good to have one more articulate and thoughtful player in the game. Welcome. Don't mind the trolls, they've taken High Sec as an identity so an attack on HIgh Sec is an attack on them and they get very aggressive and spout a lot of nonsense. I'm sure they're good people in RL.

On a gameplay note have a think about some of the learning groups, EVE UNI, OUCH UNI, Agony Unleashed etc. They take full noobs and will teach a lot for free.

Thanks
