So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what ship I might try to mission in after the nerf bat beats my tengu to hell. It may turn out that the Tengu is still the best choice. I currently mission in a 2 man fleet tengu/basilisk. Maybe I should just double up on tengus and remote rep each other. I've considered going for a carrier next year, but I have no idea the logistics of flying such a large ship.

Anyway any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh I'm running L5 missions.

I still think the Tengu will be a very good choice. Its small, quick and so harder to catch and will still do acceptable DPS at a decent range. Fits may have to change a bit and it'll be slower to kill everything but I don't foresee it making them not good. Although you could probably maintain your current speed by using the spider tanked Tengus as you mentioned.

So what is this nerf that is coming towards the Tengu I just resubed within the last day.

Not specifically Tengu but heavy missiles in general https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=155029&find=unread

Well just lost my Tengu in Prison Break L5 mission. I may go mach now. Not sure. Tengu is still the best ship for low/null but the dps is going to be irritating. Most of the missions I do are EM heavy and the Tengu doesn't do good EM dam.

if you have a basilisk anyway, you can pick any shield tanked mission runner. HAM tengu will struggle with either range or small targets (read: frigs), so a mach or nightmare is probably your best bet. if you want to dual-box dps, you can run a cap chain and local rep, that should be better than straight RR.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Yes I've often thought this too. I really like the tengu for it's versatility in low and nullsec. I usually carry my cov opts sub and cloak in cargo for when I am not missioning, so that I can dock and switch them. I've only been in lowsec for a few months, so I felt much safer in the tengu. I worry about the larger sig radius and slow maneuverability of a bs. Really though I don't think this should be much of a concern where I am. I only rarely see any probes in space.

Also I just lost my damn tengu doing Prison Break. I bought another to get my isk reserves back up and until I have a better idea of what I need to work toward. I was planing on a nighthawk, but this nerf of HM's has me rethinking that. Maybe a Mach is the best route. I would train for a carrier, but **** I wouldn't know where to begin to use it. I do have near perfect drone skills though.

Would be a good alternative if it was just the heavy missile nerf. However the new A.I. with smaller ships defaulting to attack smaller targets, combined with the remote repair modules generating much more hate with NPC's, it will be almost impossible for any battleship hull to protect a cruiser hull logi. Your basilisk will get primaried and near insta popped in any mission not dominated by BS size NPC's. There are a few level 5 missions with enough cruiser and smaller NPC's that your logi will get targeted by all cruiser and smaller hulls on warp in and popped before you even know what happened.

good point. i forgot about the healer aggro change. maybe two tengus, one with hams, one with nerfed HMLs are a good solution.

edit: now that i think of it, two navy scorps would probably do the job much better than two tengus.

I should buy an Ishtar.

It beats the HML Tengu to hell. It buffs (!!!) the HAM Tengu. You know what to do.

I didn't know about that AI change. Yeah I may have to go dual tengu. Was even looking at proteus. I have good drone skills. I'm wondering if switching to assault missile fit might make for more dps after the nerf. Well one thing is for sure missions are going to be a lot more interesting after December.

assault missile builds WILL do up to 1000dps on paper but you will be limited to either ~30km range with same damage application as now or 50-60km range with ~50dps applied to frigates.

I should buy an Ishtar.

carrier, still much quicker than a tengu especially for lvl 5's, obviously you just have to be cute with popping the webs first and keeping a close eye on d-scan

I still like my Raven Navy Issue and Rattlesnake, though the Rattlesnake my require more attention with improved NPC AI.

Get a Varg or a Machi, and shield/cap xfer to them. Even at the Tengu's height, they still killed **** faster, you just have to pay more attention whilst doing so. The Tengu is, and probably still will be just easier, but that's really all.

Done!

You haven't any business in a carrier until you learn everything there is to know about PvEíng in one. Like, first. You will be a very nice killmail for every ganker in 3 constellations in short order, otherwise.
