This is a copy of a E-Mail I recently sent to CCP and decided to post here as well.

Dear CCP,

I am a indie game designer and avid EVE player. I had a idea for a game, set in the EVE universe that is different from what CCP has now. I wanted to propose my idea and ask to possibly to use assets provided within EVE Online to do so.

The core of the game is a "multi-player team based shooter" similar to Dust 514 except people may pilot EVE ships in a free to play environment and battle it out similar to Dust.

To clarify this concept I will explain in depth:

Base Concept & Game-play

Set in the vast universe of New Eden, pilots can take on new adventures in EVE. They would create a new pilot and select from a list of starting ships based on faction (Caldari, Minmatar, Amarr and Gallente) and can fight other players piloting these ships. For example, in EVE Online when you pilot it is point, click, warp, etc. In this game concept you would use WASD or Arrow Keys to move the ship around and avoid being attacked. You would launch missiles or whatever weapon you may have equipped with either the keyboard or mouse clicks. Players can gain points form killing to upgrade skills purchase ships, load outs and such.

This would be if the player wishes to fight others. There would be a option as well to fight against bots with either friends or solo play. So in a sense this would be a "private match" rather public. Private matches would work different, players wouldn't be able to "level up skills" but would be able to use all content they have unlocked up to that point.

These matches also could have time limits, ship limits (Such as Destroyers only, or No Drake) and such. Matches would be setup with a map in a small sector of EVE, so for example I will use Jita as an example. I would setup a match to take place in that sector and decide how many players (Lets say a team of 20 vs 20) and set the time limit (20 minutes) and that would be it for now.

Within this map of Jita there would be posts, such as "Blue Post and Red Post" representing the two teams. The goal is to destroy the others outpost and gain points destroying others. Private matches would be the same concept.

Also, within the maps would be "defense structures" that players can drop from a mothership in-game. To explain this better, think of your ship hiding behind a floating blockade that generates a shield for a set amount of time. You would be protected why some enemy is shooting at you, giving you time to either attack back or heal up if need to be.

Upgrading Skills & Ships

Just as in EVE Online you can purchase skill books and ship fittings. Skills would not work like in EVE but rather work like Dust 514. Fittings would work just as in EVE Online.

Earning ISK, Faction Points, Skill Points & Misc.

Everyone wins ISK in a match as long as they play the entire round. The amount of ISK won depends on total damage of team and such. For example, my team deals 85,000 Damage over all the match, therefore everyone wold be awarded 85,000 ISK not adding in any other factors (Winning team, ships destroyed, etc). This ISK works just as in EVE, used to purchase ship upgrades and skill books.

Factions Points are to upgrade your faction add-ons, such as lets say you are part of a Corp, you can purchase up
grades for that Corp (More HP, Shield Protection). You can also trade Faction Points for special Faction Ships, such as "Caldari Navy" versions and such.

Skill points are earned when you win a match, whether you win or lose.

Re-spawning would work like Dust, you lose your Ship and have to select a new one with a pre-made fitting to get you through the match OR if you have a copy of a fitting you may select that one as well. There is no limit of fittings and times you can re-spawn, you will always be given a ship when you die either way. Even if it is a basic starter ship. with simple fittings. No one should ever have to quit because they lost a ship. That is not fair to anyone.

Final Thoughts & Integration with EVE

This is merely a concept and I have not begin any work nor have used any CCP Copyrighted Material. I would love to have this game to become a product though. As for connecting to EVE Online, it would be like Dust whereas you can call upon a Corp and such. Other than that, this is a stand alone product that can be played Online for Single-Player in missions given by an NPC (A storyline give or take). It would either be sold or given and never charged for online features. There also wouldn't be any Paid DLC! Ever. Any expansion would be a free upgrade such as new maps, ships and such content. I believe CCP has done the right thing by doing this in EVE.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will be posting a copy to the forums as well.

What else you done?

Links? ( or just the name of the game would suffice, as you can't link store pages on the forums )

And, whom was this sent to?

The game is titled EVE: Vengeance and no work has begun on it because I do not want to use copyrighted material without permission.

It was sent to the CCP Business and Information Department because it was an inquiry to use there materials and assets.

So why is this in the EVE Fiction forum? Does it mean the whole thing is fiction?

Change the names, use different ship models.

I mean that's what EVE did.

Just like DUST, how about you make it work inside the EVE universe. Drop the size of the craft, so single and two man fighters, bombers, gunships, etc. Put them in low orbit. Hell, put them on the same planets as the DUST battles. Hello pew pew dogfights!

I believe this game is very much like the game you describe although it is not based in the EVE universe.

If you have the serious ability to get a game funded and built, then you have the network to reach approrpiate BizDev contacts at CCP.

If this is an indie development, then stop creating roadblocks for yourself such as needing to license content that you won't be able to license. Create a great game with your own original content. When your game is working and closer to release, you will have better luck approaching them if you still wish to content license.

Protip: 100M ISK per hour is about $3US an hour.
