EvE is not dying - at least you can't say that from the numbers. With all time high subs and PCU this year it is very much alive at least commercially. Though number fluctuate and Incarna was obviously a failure but winter is coming and it is the prime time of the year for EvE so I wouldn't be surprised if next year ses another all time high.

Our subscriber numbers are higher today than they were a year ago. Unlike many other MMO's on the market, we have continued to grow year-on-year since launch in 2003. However, over the past two months, our subscribers have gone down from their peak this summer. We attribute this to our own mistakes and poor communications with our players. We are correcting that now.

Funny, when I said that people pulled out a bunch of charts they made and then told me I didn't know how to read them. I am just dying to hear what people are saying about the same thing when CCP dictates it.

Eve is dying. This is proof. [sic]

lol. Yeah right. EvE is dying?

Subs were at all time high this summer and PCU record was set Januari this year. Are these the signs of a dying game? And before you say that it has gone down lately you should know that it is perfectly normal for numbers to fluctuate which means they ALWAYS goes down after a new record is set.

Winter is prime time for EvE and last i heard winter is coming soon.

Yes, incarna was a failure and they lost some because of it. But that does not mean it is dying.

Now go and find some more drama.

Sic—generally inside square brackets, [sic], and occasionally parentheses, (sic)—when added just after a quote or reprinted text, indicates the passage appears exactly as in the original source. The usual purpose is to inform readers that any errors or apparent errors in the copied material are not from transcription—that they are reproduced exactly from the original writer or printer. A bracketed sic may also be used as a form of ridicule or as a humorous comment, typically by drawing attention to the original writer's mistakes.

In other words Eve is NOT dying.

You are one of the people that called for CCP relocate assets, and I was one of the people against it. And I was chastised heavily for being against it.

This is an eve is dying/not dying thread, which is what i was being smug about. Keep the political stuff in the political thread.

The CSM did not call for people to be fired. The CSM did not call for people in community to slander their favorite games developer publicly and loudly over an optional vanity cash shop.

CCP are absolutely not free from blame here, but we, as members of the community, need to support CCP in this time of uncertainty. Anything less than this is selfish, disgusting and petulant infantile behavior and I will not associate myself with it.

I intend to use what little power I have to promote this game moreso than I ever have before.

No but you stood by while the game slowly disintegrates into what it is today. If for a second you think you are not part of the problem you are completely insane. There is plenty of blame to go around and the useless CSM are in that boat as well. Promoting EVE? Hey I have some great stock in a company named Enron id like to sell you. You can thank me later.

You are a major part of the problem if you actually think this way.

Do you realize that CCP doesn't have to get permission from the CSM before it does anything? You're insane if you think the CSM is in any way responsible for what's happening at CCP.

I think its pretty clear that CCP doesn't listen to anyone or anything other then their own echo now.

I see a lot of bad posting on these forums but you, sir, are in a league of your own. Congratulations are in order for your work in expanding the field of bad posting to new depths.

So whats is worse? My bad posting or you responding to a bad post? think about it. Either way my point still stands. Blaming the average player for the state of EVE when you are looking these same people in the face at fanfest and doing nothing is complete crap. CSM has been a joke from the beggining if you dont want to believe that fine. I still have thos e stocks btw. Cant miss

so, you demonstrated your dissatisfaction with CCP's course of action by giving them another 18 bill in GTC's?

You really showed them. Way to stick it to the man.

If he sits on them and never cashes them in it actually messes up accounting for CCP.

Besides the "Gem" that the playerbase is to blame from the CSM in the thread has there been any response from them?

I thought that CCP was finally waking up and getting back on the right track?

What job roles were dropped? Is that maybe not a team from a direction the company is pulling back from?
Game development teams move from company to company, make an expansion, move on, make a new engine, move on. There is maybe 25% of those in the MMO business who have stable jobs through the years.

Edit:

I want to make a note, that PLEX prices are going up. This could be due to a few reasons:

1) Less supply
2) Someone buying low and selling high
3) People are using up the PLEX instead of paying game time more than ever
4) Less paying players with accounts that want to finance ISK via PLEX.
5) Fall out from the Incarna expansion and PLEX market.

... i.e. company as an entity versus individuals.

In the orient, if a company suffers financially, their first step is to slash management salaries because they are not leading the company in the right direction. Retrenchment is a last resort and those employees are first for re-hiring if things improve.

In the West? We cut off our feet because we want more blood for our swollen heads.
