If there a reason for the price difference? Or is it simply more for a Plex just because you can use it for ISK making and/or be used to pay for monthly services without using real currency?

Anyone have a link to a ccp dev mentioning why there is a 5 dollar price difference. Please?

A PLEX is more than just a month of game time. It is an item which can be sold by resellers. Now a question for you: if you were a retailer, would you bother selling something for $15 when it cost you $15 to buy that thing? Or would you just not bother stocking that thing?

In addition, PLEX is tradable in game, so it provides a legitimate route for converting real world money to ingame currency. Thus it has more value than a monthly subscription, thus it is worth more.

the only ones selling PLEX are CCP and RMT sites, there are no legit retailers

GTCs aren't as versatile, you can't sell them on the ingame market, gotta go through the account management stuff haven't you?

That's only if you purchase a SINGLE PLEX via the EVE-O cash interface, which is the same as creating a new account or activating a trial account (which also cost ~20 monetary units), carrying a 5 monetary unit surcharge for the activation.
Other than that, you can get 1 Plex for ~17.5 monetary units (i.e. 2xPLEX = 1x GTC = 5 cash + 2 months playtime).

Also, you can use PLEX for more than just monthly subs, so it's a bit more complicated, as the people above pointed out.
