or put it in a can, courier contract it to alt, put in another can, courier contract it back. Now the items are 4 layers deep and unscannable.

You can't double courier a package with a can in it. You will get the "can inside can" error (I forget the exact text). This is why Red Frog prefers that you not put cans in contracts.

Also I believe any wrapped packages, or cans are guaranteed to drop in the loot, not no risk of the valuable modules not dropping.

You've mentioned this before and I asked for some validation. I'm not completely certain, but I'm pretty sure they follow the same drop rules as everything else. Since plastic wrap is actually a freight container, it would imply that all freight containers always drop. I'm also pretty sure I've seen km's with non-dropped double plastic. But I'm not 100% sure. Any info sources you can share would be appreciated.

It is what I have read in other sources. As I said. I believe it is so. I do not state it as fact, as I do not recall the exact source. I do recall reading though, that cargo containers always drop. guaranteed loot drop. But as I said I do not have proof to back it up, and have not tested it myself.

Note that this kill has two plastic wraps in it. One dropped. One didn't.

Actually it had 4 that didn't drop and 5 that did ;)

I'm glad someone was paying more attention!

Well I guess that kicks that misconception square in the nuts.

7 billion worth of cargo, not counting the plastic wraps. No wonder he got ganked.

I was wrong. They do not always drop. I wonder if they used to and it was changed, or if it was always like this?

No matter. Now I know.

It might still be worth testing a plastic wrap in a plastic wrap. I still doubt it, but weird kinks in the system are nothing new in EVE.

edit: my personal knowledge of the mechanics is pretty old. I have personally had km's with lost cans. I don't think the basic "can always drops" bit was ever true, but that doesn't mean there wasn't some interval where it was. Courier in courier I don't have any personal experience with, just seems to follow from the others. Still could be worth testing though. I would not be the least bit surprised to see CCP nerf double wrap soon if they follow the logic all the way through.

I do wonder if you are even meant to be able to hide stuff like that or not, if CCP wants options for hiding cargo, why not have "lined smuggling containers" or something, that block out scanning devices (as well maybe allowing you the smuggle illegal items past customs?) granted there would have to be a proper trade off, say very small space, or high volume to cargo ratio, or cost, or whatever. I don't really like the idea of having to do odd tricks that I'm betting are really bugs that they aren't rushing to fix for whatever reason.

I think this might be a new popular Orca fit for when you need that 10 second align / warp and need tank.

That's funny because I've been using basically that same build for a long time when making freight runs.

With good skills you only need two routers.

My guess is that it was never intended to be unscannable, but since it was using the same code as the corp hangar array, and corp roles etc it basically became unscannable, much in the same way hangars are inaccessible without proper roles.
