I was known as "Mike with a Tona" Being my name is Mike and I'm usually riding my Triumph Daytona 955i. Ended up getting shortened to "MikeTona" and then "Makton".

Since I made a Role-Playing character with the same name "Makton To", I thought I would make one in this game, but didn't stuck with the game at the time (steep learning curve and life). Many years later I forgot I did that and tried making it again, to which EvE wouldn't let me, so I changed the last name to "Kelevin" with remembering my EQ days in Kelethin (Probably spelled wrong). About 2 days after creating "Makton Kelevin", I was able to recover my old "Makton To" account and thus I have 2 Maktons ("To", and "Kelevin").

Two clicks on the "Generate Random" button during character-creation. First name it came up with as first name, second name it came up with as last name.

Yeah, that's how creative at naming characters I am.

My first trial char got podded in null by a goon when i was a week old

I made a new char for a fresh start and named her "Revenge is sweet" - in Cantonese ~ Bo Sau Hotim

Of course my everlasting vow of revenge had changed to an everlasting grudge after I found out who he was... :P

my name comes from Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers... i choose the evil villain played by Roy Dotrice who happens to be a bourgeoisie/masochistic french man during the french revolution and since i picked a galente character i picked the name... 
At the end of the game both the pawn and the Queen go in the same box.

Dune and boredom.

Akirei does have meaning (Aki = "Bright", Rei = "Soul" in Japanese), just not a particularly well thought out one. Can also mean "Autumn Criminal" or "Empty Tears".

Its all in the Dune reference, really. Badass character, Scytale.

Back in the good ol' Counter-Strike days (back when it was massive), i Watched an old Stickfigure animation about CS which involved a character called Camping Carl. Since i myself was enjoying sniping and yes camping, i took upon this name.
Ever Since i have used Carl in a variety of games across the internet, Using odd and magnificent combination of words to complete it.

When i started playing Eve Online, i had to make up something, so i looked at my speakers which had the words '' Multi-media Speakers'' on them.
And from then on, i was Multimedia Carl, and im awesome.

I simply made my name up.

In any game where I make a character or such, I try to be original in my name choice. When I made Sephira Galamore I thought the name would fit well for someone from outer Gallente space.
I usually google the full name to check it's not 'taken'.

i didnt expect this to get as many answers as it did, im really glad it has though. Choosing your name is something quite important for people in MMO`s and its really nice to see how people make the choices they make.
