I cannot advocate pirating games. Even if the publishers are idiots.

Trust me, if half the military spending went to infrastructure, everyone would be better off.

Internet EVERYWHERE !
Meh... satellite internet has too much latency for general EVE griefing, I think we'll just go ahead and keep mass producing bayonets. Trust no one Blink

The ping is between 500 milliseconds and 1 second on various current-day Internet connections via satellite.
With a much more dense satellite coverage, they can be moved into a lower orbit and optimized for lower latencies, and you could probably enjoy pings of 150ms-250ms.
I don't know about you, but since EVE already works on a 1-second tick, a 1 second ping is not THAT bad.

I don't know about that. I get around just fine, have running water.

Some of the best technology comes out of the military.

I'm sure you know they're working on lasers. Did you know they're developing irl cloaks?

edit: I'm aware of how it's trendy to say "make love not war" ect. it seems pragmatic... but the military is really crucial. Think of the missile shield and how that's changed the world.

1 sec is enough to experience packet loss resulting in disconnects. Things get really iffy 500ms and beyond. I know, I had times of bad latency when I had a cheap no-contract 3G provider. UDP is very forgiving, can even take packets out of order, but still.... Then people wonder why they pop while in warp hehe. Theoretically it works, but very messy. Then EVE being about the only game you can play at that latency. With cell tower coverage now, it's really hard to consider satellite internet as relevant any longer tbh

I'm in it for the money

Sailors are getting laid off, so the Politicians dont have to cut their weapons contracts to their friends.
