Lately I've been hearing talk that ccp is going to nerf heavy missiles. I freaking hate forums and trying to decipher what each thread is about by some obscure title, so forgive me if this has already been addressed in a previous post.

I have been playing eve for around 4 years now and I like it. I have 2 accounts. I make most of my isk doing L5 missions in lowsec. I use a tengu to do this, so I ofc am a bit perturbed by this news of a nerf to heavies. I'm totally not ragging here either, but this may just be the last straw for me personally. If my missions take me 20% longer to complete because of this nerf that means I have to work that much harder to make the isk I need. I just am not sure I want to play eve that much. So I'll wait till it happens, but if my tengu dps drops from 780 to 600 I will more than likely just let eve go and find something else to occupy my time.

That is the thread, that the dev doing the change lists what is changing about missles and torps.

There is a dps nerf as well as a range nerf. Reasons are given and stuff.

You may as well start looking now because the missiles are being nerfed. I doubt anything will lead to CCP changing their minds about that.

Yeah I don't expect them to change their mind, ccp doesn't have a very good track record of listening to the players. I just wanted to whine a bit. Yeah in all srsness I need to spend far less time playing mmo's anyway.

Actually most missiles are getting buff, only HM are nerfed because they deserve it

cruise missiles and torps will get a buff. so if your eyes are resistant to cancer, you can fly a navy raven.

I should buy an Ishtar.

It's a game. It's meant to be fun. You are paying for the privilege of playing it after all.
If you don't enjoy it and consider it "work", then you need to find a new way of making ISK, or find a new hobby that you do enjoy.

From what I have read, with the GMP and other miscellaneous buffs, a slight modification to your fit should mean an increase in DPS with a minimal reduction in application (albeit with a significant reduction in range and a requisite change in tactics).

So refit to heavy assaults and get back out there killing stuff.

My question to the OP is... What do you need the isk for? Do you pvp with your accounts and level 5s let you afford losses? Do you plex to play for free? Do you grind missions for the isk alone which sits in your wallet unused?

I agree with those claiming that if eve feels like a job, move on. Otherwise...

If you mission to cover pvp losses, embrace the updated frigs and cruisers. They will keep pvp cheap nut fun, meaning you will mission less and pvp more.

If it's for a plex, look into alternative income sources. If you can survive in low, maybe planetary interaction will help your income.

If your just bummed because you won't fatten your wallet as fast, yet that wallet is never used, why care?

So yes, heavy missiles are being balanced. Yes your old fit may be limited some. Still, depending on your motivation, it may not be an issue.

Well mmo's are really meant to be fun imo. They are meant to be addicting, and the longer you play the more you feel you have to keep playing.

Well we'll see. I'm not going to rage quit over it. I just thought I had finally found a ship I could work with. I don't really enjoy fitting as much as I should I guess. I don't like screwing with eft or eveHQ. I may find that switching to assault missiles ends up giving me a boost or something. Or I may just say **** it and turn my tengu into a pvp butt raper. Or I may say **** it and quit. Who knows.

Yeah I mission to pay for plex so far. I was gradually working my way into more dangerous waters so as to increase my income so I could fund more accounts and so on. I kinda liked L5's because no all that many ppl do them and they were certainly a huge boost from L4's. Maybe I should look into wh exploration again or revisit some things I failed at previously.

PI just annoys me. I considered it but the 15%+ tax at the planet and the corp tax kinda turned me off of the whole thing. Maybe I can find some thing else I enjoy doing that can bring in good isk.

They are listening to players. Heavy missiles have been needing a nerf for years. You are in a minority who think they are fine.

Come on man, buck up - after 2 years you must be able to fly something other than a Tengu. A bit of change might spice things up.

Anyway: The good news is that you will be able to refit your Tengu to a HAM boat and do even more DPS, because all the short-range missiles will work with Guided Missile Precision and rigor rigs, so HAMs will be massively more effective. So all you'll really have to do is fly your ship a bit differently.

Actually I think they are fine because they are over powered. lol I guess this thread has helped me to come to terms with that.

Yeah that sounds good. I may just find a new main weapon choice. I just get a bit irritated because I have billions in implants for heavy missiles. I'm less perturbed than I was when I first posted.
