Hi all, I just wanted to show you that something wonderfull that is under development:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gtf16CEMDM&feature=related
(Please watch fullscreen in HD)

It is a singlepayer Sci fi simulator with coop elements, developed by Chris Roberts the Sci fi guru behind Wing Commander and Freelancer!

This game is entirely being developed for PC, it has mod support and a lot of cool features check it out at:

http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/

PS. This is not a troll post. I love EVE very much, and from today I ended my trial and started to subscribe at EVE.
I just feelt as a Sci fi fan I wanted to share this news with you all, and I hope this game gets all its Kickstarter support it could ever need, and I also hope CPP can get some insperation and not feeling totaly alone with delivering quality sci fi products to the world. Good times indeed!

It's been discussed thoroughly in out of pod. Where this will soon go.

welcome to 2 or 3 weeks ago, it looks promising but it remains to be seen if he can actually deliver.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

So how is this in any way “good company” with CCP when it's not even in the same market segment?

This is Chris we're talking about. The guy has built a career on vaporware and promising exactly what people want to hear. He knows what the space-economic-combat sim demographics wants in an ideal game, and he is promising it (mostly). He will not deliver even 1/10th of this promise.

Freelancer was his previous work. Sure, freelancer was cool but it was a shadow of the vision Chris had for it. Most blame microsoft for this, but it wasn't microsoft's fault that freelancer was released with missing features. By the time Digital Anvil was acquired by microsoft, Freelancer was already 18 months beyond their 3 YEAR DEVELOPMENT CYCLE. Chris and pals were never going to be done with Freelancer, so Microsoft pushed it out the door early.

Anyone who sends this man money for star citizen is a sucker.

Perhaps a well deserved question beautiful lady. Though I think it shares some similarities being a Sci fi simulator with possibilities to control small and even large size ships. It also has planned carrer paths such industry, exploration, piracy and etc.
Though it might not have be an entirely economy driven game and a full scale MMO, it seems to have a trade system planned, and of course the thing we all EVE players love, tons of PvP (coop). In that regards I found it interesting to share :)

Hahahha infinity being finished - that's hilarious.

You know, these startup indie space game scams - er i mean - "projects" must be a great source of untapped income.

And seems to have support with it. What happend in the past doesen´t necessarily have to happen in the future. Sometimes people do change, Im just saying :)

Supposedly it's already been in development for a few years, and you can see a fair bit is even playable in the vid. They just decided that they'd go public for the last 2 years of development to try and raise more funds.

I'm excited about it, but 2 years is a long way off.

Simulator? No, thanks! I've fed up with MechWarrior Online where you have to fight with your own mech's controls instead of enemies.

Infinity has been in development for like 4 years now - I stopped caring about that game 2 years ago.

I want Star Citizen to succeed. I really do. I'm tempted to toss cash at the guy, but I'm also hesitant. I've been burned before and I wish I could see all of his goals being met. I can't though.
