Best AF to accompany close range Jag?

I have a friend that's flying a Jaguar fit with a mwd,scram, and web.

Assuming he knows how to get a point, what would be the best assault frigate to accompany it in duo AF pvp?

Enyo's nice.

But really, jag's basically the worst AF to duo with at this point. It's underwhelming in most respects, compared to the other AFs.

Yeah I was thinking about an Enyo, is there a particular fit that I would be best using?

And in regards to the Jag, would a Wolf work better? Or are minmatar AF's just not meant for duo'ing?

Minmatar AFs are underwhelming in general, ironically enough.

They're even more so with the frigate rebalance - they're now relegated to being shiny heavy tackle, since now t1 frigates can escape/kill them fairly easily. You can do more, but it's not cost-effective.

That said, Enyo with neutrons. Damage mods and a damage control in the lows, micro/ab/asb in the mids (iirc)

Jaguar is just fine to use as fast, heavy tackle. Fit an overdrive, dcu, double gyro, full tackle, MSE, mwd, and it is a ton of fun to use in a small gang. The enyo suggestion is nice as it can put out a hilarious amount of DPS while the jag (+ enyo web and point) holds the target down. The MWD bonus to AFs has actually been a nice addition for roaming in null in small AF packs and tackling bigger ships.

Does this mean a Jaguar is better than a Wolf in terms of having a fast beefy tackler?

It is faster and has a solid shield buffer tank, whereas most wolves are 200mm buffer + rep or just rep (400mm buffer are pretty slow). You have the enyo for DPS. Also, because the Jag is commonly regarded as the poorest of the AFs for solo work, they make a juicy target :)

Do you want to brawl or snipe with it? Harpy is a good brawler and the retribution is pretty solid for either brawling or sniping.. You way also want to consider a destroyer as a partner to AF

I would use an MWD brawler harpy since you're new the range bonus and tank over the enyo help more. Tell your friend to fit his jag for utility with a TD and a neut at the least since jags are pretty ****** atm.

Its a shame for the Jag tbh, it really needs its 4th turret to bring its DPS up to par with the othr AF's, currently every AF with zero damage mods does more or equal to DPS than a single damage mod Jag.

This is good advice, Harpy is a good alternative to the Enyo. MWD jag + neut (if you are hunting other frigates) is a great fit. Alternatively you can fit it with a nos using an anc rig if you are going after big things.

Jag is fine for duo. It serves as a target and can tank well. I would use a retribution or ishkur as other one. ASB jag may be an idea

I'll probably try both the ecm ishkur and supernuker enyo. I don't have caldari frigates at 5 yet but when I do I'll give the dual asb harpy a shot as well.

Even with the frig buff I still love my wolf. I know statistically it isn't the shiniest thing out there, an ishkur or even a properly fit incursus could probably outbrawl it etc etc but it's just so versatile and so tasty.

Ad 2x TD fited harpy or hawk and you can kill even big ships if you nos them to counter neuting.

Option is also 75mm rail harpy with two TDs as a support.

OR 2 TD fited bomber.

OR 1 Kitsune.

OR .... there is tons of options.

I would go 1 jag and 1 Blackbird though.

Can't even have frigate PvP without a Falcon, or a some form of ECM on the field.
