Bumping Miners - A Solution

As this has become the latest anti-miner activity since gankers can no longer kill barges with ease (pretty lame really) I believe the industrial sector of New Eden would come up with a counter.

Stands to reason that they would invent a module that enables the barge to grapple onto its asteroid. Thus if the barge was bumped the asteroid would be bumped with it. Of course, in the interest of balance, it would have to take up one of the precious mining laser slots.

and it should require as much powergrid as two t2 strip miners

it should also increase the signature radius and require the use of a rig everyone else has to make compromises with ship fits why shouldn't miners?

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Why do people always demand new modules to mitigate a game mechanic?

Don't be scared, because being afk is not a crime.

can someone explain to me what this bumping is , because i don't see the problem , they not ganking your ship right they juqst bump it till you out of range of your asteroid right?

If so here is your solution , stop AFK mining

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire

Maybe we could have a module that causes our ships to flash red when someone violates our comfort zone. It could act as a warning to potential threats that we're at risk of logging out due to extreme exposure to player interaction.

kinda bad imho... If asteroids are then moveable what is stopping a group from bumping all the asteroids off grid when no one is around. This would lead to bookmark selling so then only people who pay get the ore that has been bumped away from view.

my idea.
A module would latch onto the asteroid so you are unmoveable. The module would be a mid or low slot and reduce the tanking ability of ships a bit. Also would have to cycle through the module before it latches on and another cycle to detach.

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.

If you couldn't mine AFK no-one would do it. Too boring.

A reasonable slant on the fitting idea, although I do not think it gimps the mining ship enough.

However, I think it would take a great deal of effort to bump an entire asteroid belt off-grid and of course, it would reset to its original position after downtime anyway.

Your use of the words "a solution" implies there is a problem. Is there really? You seem to imply there is no counter, but isn't there a simple counter already? DON'T BE AFK MINING. All this "we need a counter-module so we can continue to afk-mine in peace" is making me sick. Miners do not even pretend they're playing the game, no, instead they rather petition the game creators to give them the means to continue not playing their game. How do you even come up with such nonsense?!

I have a better solution. Allow miner lasors to remove ore from a ships cargo hold. Maybe tractor beams to i guess? Of course concord would not intervene in this, since they woudl only have eyewitness accounts to bring as evidence before Judge CCP Guard.

Let the ore wars begin!

I had to delete some posts complaining about the thread being moved. That counts as complaining about the moderation. There's a thread for that. This isn't it.

See, miners would never, EVER go for that. They aren't interested in balance, they simply want CCP to change/introduce mechanics which remove all negative effects from them. They refused to sacrifice yield for tank. They'll refuse to sacrifice yield for immunity from bumping. They'll refuse to take the miniscule time and effort required to simply move system. Repeat this pattern forever. 95% of miners simply do not want to play EVE Online, they're just too stupid to realise it.

Ha ha ha ha. I can't argue with that. Incidentally, I am not a miner. Did it back in '03 a LOT to get my first BS so I can appreciate how boring it is, though. I wouldn't want to do it any way other than AFK. Would you?
