Lucas will serve as the "Creative Consultant." That's like the Special Olympics of movie making. Good for Disney for pushing him off to the side, patting him on the head, and making him think he still has a role while they bring in some hopefully decent filmmakers.

Honestly if it wasnt for star wars and his tie in work with Spielberg lucas would probably be a footnote who directed some interesting stuff if you were high in the 70s and dived with Willow in the 80s.

Because he didn't do that with I, II, & III? Those movies are so horrifyingly bad that it actually diminishes your pleasure when watching the original trilogy. Absolutely embarrassing. George Lucas is a giant tool who was fortunate enough to hit the mark once in his life and have Spielberg as his friend. Take away the original trilogy and his resume is fairly lacking.

Disney isn't just Mickey Mouse anymore. They have the clout and smarts to do this right. Anyone who moans about this deal is a jaded (and uninformed) nerd with no foundation to stand on.
