The textures on it look stretched. Like the front end was just stretched out like taffy. Also, the Vindicator is fugly. Wtf happened to it's stripes?! All those little "panel" details look horrible.

Pretty sure the skin is still WIP.

I hope so, but I highly doubt it. The skin all of the mega hulls have right now has way too many "panel" squares on it. Compare it to the mega hulls in game now and they're much smoother and sleeker. It ruins the new mega's model.

Are you running low or medium details ? cause that screenshot looks nothing like the Vindi on my test server... mines look really good more shiny and better texture resulotion then the one you're showing in that screenshot.

That's max settings. I think you're just seeing things.

That is how it looks on high details. I like to think it's WIP, but if you zoom up close on the new Raven and Tempest, they also get pretty blurry... but yes, it looks pretty stretched.

The most noticeable thing for me was that they took the 'hull droop' out of the superstructure, as seen from the side. I expect this to happen to the mach at some point as well. I approve, in a general sort of way, but I still don't see why this took place over a fixed domi or celestis model P

Texture for the new megas look a bit low res to me for some reason but I like the look overall. Hopefully they just aren't finished with the final renders yet.

I think they're attempting to promote a higher level of unity in terms of ship appearances, in the style of the T3 cruisers/tier 3 battlecruisers. I actually really like this Megathron rework. It was a good looking ship before, and it still is- it's just 'modernized' itself a little I guess.

And that's a good thing Aglais, I especially love where they're going with Minmatar ships, can't wait to see more for Caldari. And I like the Megathron's new model. The model itself is sleeker and looks good, it's the textures that kill it.

Here's a comparison of the Kronos:
Old - http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/9321/kronosold01.jpg
New - http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/5426/kronos01.jpg

See what I mean? All the extra crap detail they added. They'll probably leave that **** in there and leave it ugly as all hell. Just like they're leaving the Ishukone skins alone (look at the buzzard and vulture).

This version of the model is indeed WIP and the 'stretched' texture has been fixed long ago on our internal builds. :)

We are going over the megathron because we wanted to have all tier 2 BS being redesigned in a row.
I believe if we have the time for redesigning the ugly ones (domi, moa, all the old mining ships etc) for the next expansion, we will do just that.

The textures are fixed like vertex was saying earlier, which look now pretty awesome btw even though i still prefer the highres textures on it. I can ensure you the kronos on duality is not the same that you get in the final expansion (just sayin).

Im building spaceships for a living, like the megathron, kronos and the new caldari destroyer for this expansion. I still have many other ships in the works that unfortunately wont be in this expansion or in the next one :D

you need to include that info in your profile. Its sad it takes that long to get art assets in the game.

If you're redesigning the Moa (or Caracal, or for that matter any Caldari cruiser) please don't give them an obvious and visible cockpit with glass and stuff like the Drake got; it doesn't look right on ships bigger than frigates IMO.

Does that mean a revamped Apocalypse on its way? :P

Good to know the Megathron texture isn't final because apart from the stretching, it's a really nice model, well, overall the new EVE ships are really awesome, particularly with the small details such as drone bays, airlocks (good for a sense of scale), cargo doors and such.

Although I would argue that ships such as the Dominix and Moa are not ugly, but like the old Raven, have some design features that could be improved on. Afterall, ugly ships are cool in their own ways, some really have character.
