Was CCP and Hilmar sincere in the apology and promise for better communication?

I'm asking because there are a ton of concerns with the changes to PI coming in the thread discussing the blog and CCP Omen, and everyone else it seems, has turned a deaf ear to those concerns beyond telling "carebears" to do their PI in high sec.

I didn't realize the promise for better communication only applied when people agree with what you're doing.

Communication and agreeing to everything we ask are 2 different things.

I know I totally agree with the OP that these new Customs Offices are Awesome.

When we said we wanted PvP to come to PI they listened. Finally something to fight over.

Well, if you decide to camp one of these in low sec and wonder where all the people are...

I don't know why I would camp it in a Cloaky Hauler but that in itself might be a good explanation of where the people are.

Ah, so you'll be the one sitting there wondering why you can't get to your PI now because you've been denied access. Well, at least that planet over there lets you have access, at a 100% tax rate.

I think the communication between devs and community is very good compared with other MMOs generally.

Apart from that, they can never make it right for everyone. Nerf Supercaps - some cheer, some whine.

As to sincerity: There are some points in the blog I think were less than sincere.

But well... hiding one's faults is part of the biz. Big smile

I guess if this person is to stupid to take what amounts to free money that is his problem. Lucky for me Mr Denied Access and 100% make up that 1% of EVE that represent Morons.

The rest I am not only sure would be quite happy to take my money but will be competing with the hundreds of other PI people and High Sec Prices to make sure whats mine goes to them.

Ugh... we're getting derailed... this was about the communications promised to the playerbase and how that promise doesn't seen to remain in effect when there's disagreement.

New system surely is better than one expecting that there is customs office in every planet, even in wormholes which are supposed to be unexplored space.

There is plenty of threads about this topic and many have their opinions. If the end product refines to final form from all the feedback, it is all good. In the end the change is same for everyone and it is easy to adapt into.

This issue isn't nothing like for example the upcoming font. That you can't ignore if you don't like it, but PI you can.

Look at how entitled you are.

Look at how you think you can stomp your feet like a child and accuse CCP of whatever you feel like.

Naa we're not.

If you want direct answer - communication has been much better in past few weeks. Some subjects may have required some more leverage to get 'em rolling than others, but generally devs, gm's and customer reps have been much more active in forums and on passing the info.

The fact will they find our opinions and reasoning valid enough to change their plans on some issue depends about their judgement. There is nothing more we can do about it in development stage. However it is still really important to share all the opinions, because without them many obvious thing to "us" may remain "not so obvious" to the developer who is working on the thing. Every reasonable comment and opinion is valuable information source.

As long our opinions is being read and their plans are passed to us, we have communication. If devs take some time to comment the feedback in the forums, we have very good communication. This is working fine atm.

Now I suggest that you head back to this dev blog comment thread here and leave your bit of communication there. Someone might actually want to read it.

You might be confusing better communication with 'saying what you want'. CCP Omen has responded very well and answered a lot of questions in that thread. I would like another dev blog with more detail on the subject and the answer to a few concerns that have been voiced but I can't expect stuff like that right away. Give them time I'm sure we will get more information before this feature is implemented.

I think player owned customs offices is a -good- idea but only if it works the way CCP expects it too, I'm not so sure it will but we will see. If it doesn't I hope it takes them less time to address the issue than it did with the Supercaps and titans.

Umm - CCP posts awesome posts discussing company policies, downsizing and refocussing. Poor dev's get called out on threads every second post. DEV's actually reply to MANY posts. Devs reply to blog threads.
Yeah I'd say that CCP is MORE than fulfilling their promise of better communication. I mean jeez give them a break - they have gone beyond what other mmo's staff have to put up with.

This will almost certainly increase the amount of pi done in null sec sov space. That may be the only place it is worthwhile anymore. We shall see.
