It is clearly a big issue, but I'm not really sure for how long it has been going on. The first bugreport from TQ about this exact problem was sent in the first week of July. The problem was observed about 2 months earlier in mass tests on Singularity, but without useful information (and we hoped that we might have fixed it with other fixes).

Can you remember, when you observed the problem on Tranquility the first time? Was it after any specific patch?

I have found a workaround that seems to be working for now: don't jump at the exact same moment as the fleet. Wait 10-15 seconds after the jump command is issued, and then jump yourself. So far I didn't have the problem since I started doing that.

I've been doing this and when I do, not a single instance of the problem, but some people (who jump right when the FC orders the jump) still get it. On the rare occasion I forget and jump with everyone else, I sometimes still get the bug.

I 1st posted about the problem on June 23. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1525447#post1525447

Free-for-all event. I got shot by the same fleet I had only just been in upon relog (bastards Pirate)

Clock drift workaround

Disappointed to hear you had thought this matter had been put to bed by the clock drift workaround because a) it's a workaround that needs the user to be a bit techy to implement and b) numerous people still reported issues having implemented that workaround.

The clock drift is a red herring, no? (I am a layman and have no clue, just going by gut feeling)

I first experienced it in March '12 when I started doing big blobs. I had been doing small gang stuff for the year preceding March and never once experienced it.

I've tried that work around, didn't help.

Now I count to like 5 before jumping if the fleet is more than 10 people and never get the bug, but miss out on some kills if it's a hot drop :( . If I forget and jump through when everyone else does, I stand a high chance of not loading grid.

Short update from our side: We have some ideas into what might be happening, but we are still unable to reproduce this problem in-house, for example with thin-clients. That's why it would be very helpful to get additional bug reports including logs. Thanks to whoever sent a bug report so far, mostly to Benny Ohu, who is still the only one who sent useful logs.

It would be also very useful to take notes if this is mostly happening on constellation jumps or if the type of jump does not matter. The problems with clock drift happened mostly on constellation and region jumps, which is pretty often a jump between different server nodes.

As it happens on Sisi mass tests, may I suggest a Sisi mass test?

im having the same trouble, it mostly happens when im on mid to high size fleets, it started when jumpcloning to high traffic sistems, and i have been having this issue a lot lately when i jump trhough a stargate or any kind of bridge. i can see the chat and i can even chat but the grid does not load, i can even right click on system but nothing is warpable. My computer is not the best around i know however i didnt had this problem as much before iinferno.

Thanx in advance

Just noticed this thread so I'll add my "first time".

May 9th 2012 was the first time I actually noticed, but I believe I experienced it before in April.

No sig.

Date I first noticed it. Was bridging in to kill this super and nothing loaded and I had to relog and subsequently missed the killmail.

I sended the first bug report at the 5th april. Version Tranquility - EVE-EVE-TRANQUILITY - 7.31.358079

At that time I had already 2 or 3 occurences of this problem.

It happens mostly with heavy systemload like a session change because of bridging or a gatejump.

You never know, what else is happening on that node. My first report was related to a fleet of 40. But it happens more often, when you are engaged in blob wars. I had this bug sometimes 3 times in 3 hours.

All of you should try to switch on the log server. We need more results.

Only had it happen to me in fleets.
Last time it happend when I had GCC:
I couldnt use my BMs (approach location was all I got)
I tried warping to my fleet (you cannot do that, as the person is not in your fleet or your system)
I had to quit out of game, cause gate guns were shooting me to bits.. and i had no idea where to run to.. as I couldnt see them (or anything else)

Nasty feeling :)

When roaming null in fleets of around 60-75 pilots, multiple members of the fleet are experiencing the overview not loading problem, as already well-described in this thread.

I'd seen the problem back during the summer occasionally, it seemed to go away but now it is back with a vengeance.

Over the last three weeks, while running class roams, I have had numerous fleet members experience this problem, most recently today while roaming through Curse from around 18:30 to 23:30 in a fleet of 71.

Several things I have noticed:

- Telling people to wait one to five seconds between activating the gate seems to reduce the risk of the problem occurring.

- One thing that seems to help is this: After activating the gate, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING. Don't type in chat, don't click on the dscanner, don't open any windows, don't touch anything at all, just wait for the overview to load before you try to do anything. During the last two hours of the roam today, the only time I forgot to not touch anything (I clicked dscan right after activating the gate), my overview failed to load and I had to restart my client.

- Local count in the connecting system does not seem to have any effect on whether or not the problem occurs. We had it happen when the system we were jumping into had nobody in local, less than 10 in local, and greater than 300 in local.

- The frequency of it happening seems to be increasing.

- It seems to not happen when we have gangs of less than 50 jumping through at the same time; frequency drastically increases when the amount of people jumping through at one time is greater than around 65-70.

What you do for yourself dies with you, what you do for others is immortal.

as almost everyone else, i also noticed this issue several times, almost always in fleet.

in every case, when it happen (to me or any fleetmember), only way to solve is to kill client and launch it again.

not related to fleet size or local count, happened on a 5 ppl fleet when jumping between 2 empty systems, doesn't happened next roam in a 10ppl fleet when entering / leaving a system with local count at 50+

for the first time, i happened to experience a somehow similar issue yesterday when solo, jumped into a system i go several time a day (was not the first time of the session) and then only space, nothing more.

solved by itself around 30 s later, system was loaded, but local count showed 0 when 2 corpmember on their way back home were in the system (had entered like 15 sec after me)

was with them on the same gate, could see them in space and overview but local was still reporting system empty, even after trying any way possible to refresh it.

on their side, everything was OK, local count was 3 as expected

during the time the issue showed, i check everything, CPU / GPU load, memory filing, hard drive access, network status, bandwidth, ping everything was normal

also, since this issue rose, i noticed more and more often socket error messages and random disconnections, sometimes "solar system wide" (maybe more, but no clue about that).

this might not be related to our (client) connections because we are spreaded in several country, across EU / US / CANADA and Asia, still we all sometimes got disconnected or socket error at the exact same time (+- 2 to 5 sec), teamspeak connection doesn't show any issue pinpointing the issue might be somewhere server-side.

this, related to some issues reported here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=157348&find=unread

and in the several "socket error" post, make me think something is going in on the network side of the server or the code itself, latency seems increased and i would not be surprised if the issue discussed in this post, grid not loading, was related to a socket crash or timeout in network protocols.

Up to the top.

Give us an update, CCP. Still not able to reproduce a bug that regularly happens to multiple people on every single big fleet that I go on?

If it wasn't for the workaround (Wait a few seconds before hitting jump / bridge) I would be long gone by now.

Has anyone ever experienced this bug upon a mass undock? I haven't. If no one else has then there's something to explore. Why does it happen upon titan bridge / gate jump but not undock.

Sort it out, for f uck's sake.

had this again a day or so ago.

i waited to hit jump as was commonly understood to work round this. well that didnt work for 1 clinet, he didnt load along with many others.

this was a 256 fleet using a jump bridge and maybe 5% of the fleet didnt load.....

CCP please tell us you have an idea why this is happening, cos its ******* anoying as hell knowing randomly your gonna get screwed by the game

OMG when can i get a pic here
