As far as suggestions of who to join, Waffles is a lot of fun. But do not join if you feel entitled to people being nice to you. We won't be (though very few people are actually blindly and randomly abusive). But if you're active, you will almost certainly improve from being useless to being terrible at EVE (a lofty goal that everyone should aspire to).

Listen, join Dec Shield and have PVP till your eyes bleed all hi sec, no sec loss, they have hundreds of wars and thousands of reds at your disposal.

Individual corporations have vastly different standards on recruiting. The only corp that draws from a paid for forums is Goonwaffe, and we're a corp for the small minority of forum members that happen to play EVE; it is not a forum for people that want to fly with us.

TheMittani.com and Kugutsumen.com have good articles and threads on the high level Null Sec warfare going on. Before you make the jump into Null, unless you already have friends and connections there, I would familiarize yourself with the basics of PVP and get involved in something like FW, RvB or EVE Uni to figure out if you even like that level of organized fleet combat.

null sec pvp is the be't learning school for pvp , since there is ALWAYS something going on , small gang ; large gang roams , defence fllets , large fleet ops etc and most alliances / large corporations use doctrines , meaning they use cerrtain ships and fits that work well together and are mostly well in reach for any newer player
i ve learned more about pvp in the last 3 months than in the previous 3 years , and there are plenty of corporations that are looking for new people
Nor do you need uber pvp skills , the vets will give you advice and teach you all they can nor are you on your own
