This statement from the POTUS isn't restricted to real life. Along the way, many of us as capsuleers have received help from someone that has helped us become better. Perhaps you learned about fitting that Sleipnir from a corpmate. Perhaps you ran a POS, and learned about fuel logistics while other people taught you about roles, titles, the vagaries of corp hangars, BP copying and invention. Perhaps you learned how to do the MWD+cloak trick with some coaching from a cool FC.

For me, the people who have helped me have:

  • Shouted me some ISK when I was on my 14 day trial
  • Taught me to deploy bombs
  • Shown me how to set up a logistics ship differently for shiny and non-shiny fleets
  • Given me new ideas for expanding my income generation
  • Shown me strategies for fitting PvE ships better
  • Given me encouragement to keep playing when I've suffered foolish losses


Who has helped you be more successful in EVE? What things have you done that were made possible due to assistance from others?

Hammar Wulf and friends (toons were 3-7 years old)


Taught me more about this game than anyone else ive ever met


I was a CEO at 6 weeks of a corp of 40 all the same age as me. He wardeced me when i was 8 weeks old and it lasted for 6 weeks and they wanted more isk than our entire corp was worth. I said i would not pay. He said they would personally wardec me out of the game and if i played this game for a year it would be their personal mission to remove me.


It only ended when we joined an alliance who took us and our wardec on.


Moral of the story. I stopped training for mining and building and every SP point ever since has gone into combat.


(They wardeced me again a year later and got no kills and i picked up a corpse for my hangar)

I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

I built it. I invested my time, effort and money to figure it out, and grow it strong while lazy people went off to have their hands held by blizzard. If I am mentored and/or mentor someone else, it doesn't negate the fact that I built my business and no one else. Just like irl, I built it, such idiots only stand in the way. ibtl P

yes.. he may not realize it, but all the people who worked every day in dull boring jobs, coupled with all the people who started businesses and made them successful, are the ones who made that happen.

Just like the ones he is speaking to will be the ones that make that happen for future generations, like those before them.

I lost a CNR to a corp kill.

It taught me never to trust or believe anyone in Eve, they're all dirty scheming, backstabbing, SOB's & MOFO's!!

And that's just the station traders.

Boy you only look at one thing the ME factor.

If you started a Businesses weather it be computers,cars What ever it is someone before did something that let you start you Businesses 99% of what is sold today someone before you came up with the idea.

Only those with truly new idea can say they started something. Even CCP cant say they started the first computer game or the first space game or the first mmo.

Without other in you life before a after even with all your hard work you have someone that give you the idea or what ever it is you sell.

No matter what it is someone some were had a hand in what you do thinking about it. You own a company that builds and sells new cars. Ya the car was your idea but someone before you worked on the tect behide you idea maybe 5,10,30,100 years ago or more so you idea is the work of others idea's as well.

So quite beening so short sighted. not even ccp can say there truly a first at anything.

Of course you wouldn't understand Gorn, you spent 10$ of you mom's money to join an internet forum for the explicit purpose of riding on someone's coattails. Someone you idolize as a demigod in much the same way do Obama.

In your mind Obama and the Mittani can be successful because they're special, they're Gorn's heroes.

But someone just like Gorn must owe their success to other people, it has to be that way to Gorn, otherwise it would mean Gorn's a failure.

I understand where you were going with this, but taking one of the most infamous face palm "you can't succeed without the government holding your hand" quotes of all time to get the ball rolling was a poor choice.

Especially the "If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen." is perhaps one of the most insulting comments made by a president to the American people to date.

Anyway, enough of that. Politics have no place on this forum. Sorry for the side track.
