Question on upgrading a trial account

So as I understand it, because I'm on a trial account, before I can just starting buying PLEXs or paying my $15 bucks every month to play the full version, I need to activate the account. No biggie, pretty standard with most MMORPGs, and from what I"ve gathered in other posts it's about $20 bucks for the activation, which comes with 30 days of game time - cool.

When I click on the link on the main EVEonine page that says "upgrade trial to paid subscription" it presents me with several monthly billing options and below says $5 activation fee will also be charged. So my question is then: is this a one time fee applied on top of the $15 (or whatever I choose) per month that works out to the same as the account upgrade? Or do I have to upgrade for $20, then pay the 15+5?

20$ = ALL = 5$ activation + 15$ as 30 days of playtime

don't worry they won't ask you to pay 20$ twice ;)

note that if you use a plex, you won't have to pay the 5$ activation
(i suppose it works also with ETC)

Keep in mind that the longer time you choose to subscribe to the lower your monthly cost gets. The downside is of course that if it turns out you didn't want this game anyway you've stilled paid for a lot of months. I'd recommend maybe a shorter period to start with and if you really like it switch to longer period. Smile

Have a question about the free trials.

Have a situation where someone got a buddy invite, and played the free trial. Then the free trial account went inactive for a while - the trial user apparently couldn't afford to sub at that time. If the inactive free trial account gets rebooted after a couple of months lapse, to a proper subscription, will the original inviter still get the plex or free 30 days game time? We're wondering if the lapsed inactive time renders the bonus plex/free month of play for the inviter null and void.

Hope this is clear!

The Buddy Program Page says "Your buddy subscribes to a month or more of EVE Online at any point during or after their trial." so it seems that you get reward in that case, but I have not confirmed this. Also note that inviter must have active account when buddy upgrades.

If you want certain answer, you could make petition and ask this from GMs.

Thanks, it helps much that you found that writeup on the buddy rewards deal. I think you're right, will pass it on. :)

Malaire is correct. You will receive the buddy reward no matter how much time has passed from when the buddy was invited to the time they upgrade to a paying account.
