Just remember to report trolls on the forum when you see them. We have a bunch of community team members who jump on them so quickly it seems like a race to get to them sometimes.

While it is important, nobody should be blindly follow what other players tell them. They should be doing their own research and coming to their own conclusions. I guess you could argue that the trolls weed out the lazy players. Or at least, aggravate them.

The problem is that it isn't just the lazy player posters who read the replies. Trolling can easily mislead others who are genuinely in search of advice and believe they are reading serious responses.

And then they learn the first rule of Eve... trust no one

I was reminded of this quote.

"I will lie to you. Don't believe anything you hear on The Neal Boortz Show, unless it is consistent with what you already know to be true, or unless you have taken the time to research the matter to prove its accuracy to your satisfaction."
—Neal Boortz

Misleading in a forum bares the uncouth of those that meander without the comfort of friendship.

I wasn't arguing for people to troll on the newbie forums. It's not helpful, I agree.

That said, anyone who takes everything that people say at face value is going to have a bad time in Eve. Especially if the advice givers don't work for CCP.

And how exactly is misleading someone on the forums an uncouth activity that betrays a friendless state in this game? Meta-gaming is still a thing, or so I heard, right?

Please, let me know!

I don't want to come off as uncouth in a spaceship game forum.
I'm new here.

That statement of mine was not directed at any member in particular. Nor was the quote I .... quoted. The latter comments reminded me if that. I was just sharing that observation.

While I was generally speaking, If you are not a troll, then obviously it was not describing you. People that troll are usually alone, bored and have nothing better to do.

I hope that translates the direction and intent of the comment. I apologize if it was....misleading.

I always kinda thought internet trolls all share a common quality. Every single one of them has an overpowering need to show themselves and others how clever they are in some way, even when they have no constructive input. A person who is confident in their views and oppinions is content not to have input when it isn't their field. Burbling for the sake of attention is something small childeren do.

EDIT : Especially astounded by the "make a thread that has been a common thread lately, because it has been common lately" bit. How long did it take em to think of that one? The sheer depth of comedy talent displayed here makes def comedy jam seem appealing...
