1.1.2 new "Verification failed" behavior under Wine 1.3.30

Ubuntu 11.10 and wine 1.3.30. New behaviour after patching Eve to 1.1.2 immediately following the splash screen;

"Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files.
Please run repair.exe located in the EVE game directory or re-install the game client.
Verification failed: 'C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\exefile.exe',
crc:de700e29, expected:20c287a6.
Verification failed: 'C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\_ctypes.pyd',
crc:ffbf0f88, expected:d17c593.
Verification failed: 'C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\_trinity_deploy.dll',
crc:ffb70be7, expected:2a0bb2c7.
... ... ..."

This goes on and on. Since patching the game client resulted in a message stating that the computer needed to be rebooted (this under Wine), my *assumption* is that there was some kind of new resident security measure implemented in this EVE client version that loads with Windows and somehow fails under Wine.

Unfortunately, since the CRC checksums are now invalid and occur before the client has loaded, I suspect my only recourse will be to reinstall the game from scratch and hope this maintains CRC integrity. Will try this later on.

Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

Have you tried doing a manual update install? I had an issue too with the patch this morning cant quite remember what it was though but then i downloaded the .exe patch file and ran it with wine and it worked out fine.

Patched everything. No problem. wine-1.3.30, Ubuntu 11.10.

You can in fact run repair.exe to restore modified files back to their original version. I believe it does work under wine at least it worked last time I used it. But it might require some vcrun libraries.

Open your eyes. And awaken.

verification error here too..

installed patch via auto update, it yelled at the end, automatically runs repair.exe, downloaded 1hour 100megabyte of stuff, and it fails again..

Arch-Linux, Wine 1.3.30 -.-

any idea?

manual patch says i am already on latest version -.-

FIXED

Workaround:

1. FORGET THE AUTOUPDATE INGAME.
2. Copy old EVE Installation Incarna 1.1x not 1.1.2 to /home/username/.wine/drive_C/blabla
3. Download Patch manually from eveonline.com
4. Apply Patch via wine explorer evepremiumpatchbla.exe
5. WIN

Usuala start with the automatic patch, if that one fails download the patch file manually and install it. If that fails too, download the full client.

Oh, and make yourself owner of the Eve directory or you'll get some weird errors Roll
