Question: Bumping Bounty IPO

Hello,

I'd like to discuss the potential of opening an IPO based on corpse collection of Miner Bumpers. As many have seen, the bumpees are up in arms as they cannot take it upon themselves to determine and execute an effective means of counter attack against James and his Bumpers.

I'd like to discuss the potential financial benefits to creating a bounty IPO based on, as mentioned, bumper corpses. As I am new to IPO's in general, I'd like any input I can be offered. At the moment, I have determined the following;

  • 500 mil closing
  • Tiered bounty payouts
  • 3% per month
  • Income source: Miner payment for services rendered?...

As I said, I'm new at this and would love any and all input on this matter.

Thank You

Hmmm....problem is, most of James' investors come from this subforum.

Miners won't pay the 10m per YEAR to mine free of trouble, why would I trust them to pay up to this IPO for (potentially) more than they're already being asked to donate for services rendered?

That is why I am asking. I would like to brainstorm with others to determine a best course of action for this IPO system. His investors do not get money back, they merely pay for "laughs." While this IPO could pay in ruining another person's "fun," I'd prefer some kind of financial prosperity ensue from its execution.

Perhaps demanding the bountied individual pay 1.5x the amount of bounty placed on him? Profits would return to the IPO investors. Corps could also be dec'd and threatened with the IPO until such time they eject the offending individual or cease bumping activities.

How in the world do you intend to collect such an item? Smile

I think this may not end up as profitable as one might hope. The scope is very limited. For it to succeed you would have to have some generation of interest in blowing bumpers out of the water (cost per kill seems high to make the target appealing enough to risk a good, well-fit ship against their boat), and the bounty would need to be reset, possibly gradually increasing to keep interest high, with each kill that is made.

I think the real bounty to be made is brokering with James, or other profitable bumpers, on enforcing their activities. If a miner won't pay, have James or the vested party place the bounty on that miner. Then collect. The funding comes from shareholders who are interested in keeping these regimes alive, as well as the mining industry no longer wishing to see their precious barges blown up.

Hmm. I might look into this myself and see what viability there is. Thanks for the idea!

I may not be a supporter of the miner bumpers, but killing ships fitted like theirs is nearly impossible. I don't see this as a viable income, except as a way to leech more money from the denizens of the new order territories. The miners should reconsider their situation, as CCP is making mining more accessible to low sp characters than ever before.

This is why I wouldn't bother trying to kill them: http://www.minerbumping.com/2012/08/how-do-i-fit-my-stabber.html
All he needs to add is a couple stabs in time of war, and he is fine (I won't sacrifice a smartbomb BS for this ****)

You'll need to work on your business plan a bit more. How is isk coming in? And how much of it is coming in? Is any of it going out permanently? How will you use the initial isk? If you want this to be a permanent campaign, you will have to start by getting some kind of isk inflow. If you are paying out (bounties), you could never pay out more than you get in, else you'll run out eventually.

Top priority really is how will you earn isk. Answer that question and after that we can look into how to spend it.

I love how miners have absolutely no clue how to actually suicide gank despite being victims of suicide ganking since forever.

This IPO and all the miners getting annoyed about the bumping are stupid.

The entire success and funding of James's IPO is based on laughing at the miners and the tears it produces.

How do you stop someone teasing you? You don't feed the fire, you don't reply or respond whatsoever.
The teaser generally gets bored, leaves and finds another victim.

Just pay the pittance of the 10 milllion fee, and move on. The more you fight it, the funnier it is!
I guarantee that cycles lost through bumping have cost more than the 10M ISK.

And having the entire process explained to them in detail on multiple occasions.

@Graff, regardless of whether you mine or not, if you've been awake in the last 10 months, you should know that a Smartbombing BS is not particularly viable as a gank ship. Regardless, the point still stands as most miners are ignorant of even the broad strokes of the mechanics of suicide ganking.

Oh that most definately was not a troll. A solo smartbombing BS is great for ganking pods, but not people in barges (unless they're untanked Hulks & you have friends with you).

This is how you run a successful IPO.

PS. James' IPO made him a ton of money because people are paying him because they want to hear funny stories and want the bumping to continue. They have no expectation of getting a profit from their investment.

Your IPO promises:

  • no interesting stories (people losing ~20m ISK Stabbers to ~150m worth of gank ships are unlikely to cry).
  • nothing to the people who want bumping to stop (they can just pay the protection money)
  • no profit

And you didn't even write it up in a funny, fanatical way.

Why would anyone invest?
