I am missioning to make ISK- doing level 3's right now and should be in level 4's in the next few weeks. At 20-30 hours a month running missions, can the other account pay for itself doing salvaging and dumping loot at Jita on level 4's?

Depends on what you are salvaging.

If its angels or sansha/BR i would say you would get close since they have very good salvage. Also their loot isn't half bad.

Edit: Prices of sansha armor plates have plummeted since i used to sell them for around 200k each. I am not sure it would be possible unless you are really burning through missions in a very expensive ship.

Get some refining and refinery effeciency skills on your salvager character up. Also, train scrapmetal processing. Finally, grind standings for Caldari Navy to cut taxes and refining waste. Assuming you will be refining junk modules there.

It's not uncommon for an hour of level 4 missions to bring in 10-20 million ISK worth of salvage and mods. So yeah, 30-40 hours of doing it can pay for a PLEX.

I wouldn't do it just because there's potential for a second free-ish account, as that's a vicious cycle where you are wasting riches just to pay off your monthly membership. Train up a alt with other goals in mind such as industry, exploring, marketing, etc and make him also just happen to be a really good salvager. That way he will be able to really maximize on the profit that comes with salvaging.

I tried this a while back. The account could pay for itself paired with a good mission runner (Machariel/NM pilot). It slowed down missioning a bit simply due to the number of clicks required in salvaging and the pressure to not blitz everything but it worked out to enough additional income to cover the extra account.

It was boring as all hell though and I really, really didn't need all that random salvage clogging up my hangar. So I stopped well before I stopped missioning entirely (which was also a damn fine choice).

I prefer to run the missions with both accounts, bm all the wrecks and then after an hour of mission running send them both out to salvage.
Also if you throw in some PI you can make a 100mil a week easily, more if you put proper effort into it. You have 2 accounts, make alts that can fly a bestower or similar, get them all to an OK level of pi skills. To fly a hauler and have lvl3 PI skills is a day or 2. Worst part is planning whether you just dumping P0 products or going up the chain and how often to set the cycles.
