Musicians in Eve?

So those of us who are older remember Midna, the Gallente (I think) pop star/sani sabik sympathizer.

Aside from her, I've never seen reference to other musicians in Eve. No rock bands, pop bands, DJs....nothing. What do you all think musicians across the cluster are like?

Do the Caldari have a pseudo K-Pop band like BIG BANG or some counter culture rock band that's borderline illegal in their musings?

Do the Gallenteans have a cluster renowned and worshiped singer like Stefani Germanotta who pushes the border with the extreme and eccentric nuances of stage performance?

Do the Minmatar have heavy metal bands like Ensiferum or Amon Amarth singing about the glorious days of Matar Warriors of old fighting for their respective tribes?

Do the Amarr just ban music unless it's religious?

Amarr seems like they'd have many skilled classical composers and produce a lot of hymns.

Gallente would definately be more pop oriented

Minmatar might have some tribal music, as well as pop, due to there relations with the gallente (hip-hop and maybe even rap?)

Caldari not so sure but it'll be either what they're told to listen too, or the opposite as you say.

Seeing as how Caldari are a combination of Finnish (Bards) and Japanese (largest music consumers in the modern world), I'd argue for a rich, and diverse, music tradition in the State.. Probably lots of harps, stringed instruments, chimes and woodwinds or flute like instruments.. Drums in the more martial influenced pieces..

Oh, and lots of Karaoke in their bars..Blink

Loudness comes to mind from my own youth...

The Gallente like to think of themselves as the leading edge in cultural expression and entertainment, but they got nothing on us... NOH!

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

In that case, I wonder if Caldari pop would sound like this then? Interesting...

Given my English speaking background, you can almost imagine that it's a caldanese singer... almost!

I can almost picture a gallente teenage girl singing along to this song while going about her shopping spree.

As the author of the Midna arc waaaay back when, I do recall some of the other of the musicians mentioned in EVE lore.

First, there's Amelia Piroette, a Gallente folksinger who was mentioned during the Criliere Scientist arc. You can find out more about her here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Amelia_Piroette

Second, there was a Gallente rock band named Starved Fedo that was utilized in a few AURORA events and may have been mentioned in a few news articles. Their lead singer had the stage name Halo Axegrinder.

There are probably a few others mentioned from time to time through news articles and in sources such as the Chronicles and E-ON, but they're not anything I recall off the top of my head.

Yes. I used to be a member of ISD Mercury before being hired as part of the Community team. The Midna arc was one of the many things I worked on back then.

I'm glad you liked the arc. I can't really comment on what I'm going to be doing in the future as it comes to backstory stuff.

The voice of "Aura" was a singer/musician I believe.

I don't remember the name off hand...

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Aura

Quote:
is voiced by Excena Foer, a Gallente entertainer and poet.[1] Her personality is noted for being dry and slightly black-humored, earning her the affection of the capsuleer class.

Guess it was a poet...

Pah, I know we're all allowed our own interpretations of the PF, but I'm going to disagree! P (does already say the Gallente are the leading folks in entertainment anyway)

Modern Japan is heavily Westernized, and its pop culture aesthetics go against what we know of the Caldari to be a 'cold and ruthless society' (by our standards). I mean, can you imagine the whole 'kawaii' thing in the militaristic and martial State of all places?

If anything it'd probably be Raata-era stuff, whatever that entails. Anyone's guess is as good as mine.

You can be sure the Caldari "learned" some "tricks" by simple association with the Gallente.. Westernized, so to speak.. We are very quick on the uptake.. You place far too much stock in stereotyping, Inhonores haan.. There are many outlooks in Caldari society, not just provists...

But, keep doing yourself the disservice, my brethren in the State, no doubt, thank you.. Most especially those like Tibus Heth. Gallente like you make his job so much easier.. Blink

Raata means truth.. Honesty, honor, integrity... Nothing I'd expect a Gallente to understand, an Intaki, however, should have a decent grasp.. P

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

I associate Minmatar with this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WkrE3EJFCs

Quote:
Travelling Through The Time
Moving Slowly In The Sand
Knowledge Is The Weapon
Against The Hunger In The Land

Solitude Met Herself
Lessons From The Primal Step
Memories From An Ending Life
Liars Can't Stop The Tribes

Nomad, Nomad, Nomad, Nomad

Brother Is The Son Of ****
The Blood That Once United
Wanna Choose The Way They Die
Look Inside Their Minds

(echoes In The)
Actual Tribe No Longer Sounds
The Ancient Teachings Fails
Movement Of My Culture
My Beliefs Have No More Tales

Who Are You To Criticize
To Judge And Burn The Tribes
The World Will Be Extinct
And Your Flesh Will Rot With Mine

Nomad, Nomad, Nomad, Nomad

And besides, that solo sounds just like ammarian ships being torn apart by autocannon fire.

Embrace the rebel archetype.

i suspect some of the more traditional caldari pieces songs have similar sound to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0abFCRcayk (finnish folk songs) and its vocal harmonics combined with more traditional japanese instrumental music. latter of those two im not that familiar with aside from few samples from youtube. but i can kind of imagine the similar style in older Caldari songs aswell as achuran which i think is more leaning towards japanese heritage and culture than civire and deteis which might be leaning towards more finnish culture.

but well these are my thoughts on the topic and could propably use some more refinement

Would it be fair to say that hearing that language would give a very slight taste of what caldanese would sound like?
