Laser crystal damage and crystal breakage

Referencing this, I think I understand how damage is calculated (its probability based each activation).

But what just happened to me was strange. I was using a pair of two scorch S crystals and both were at damage of about 0.15.

One of them broke Shocked. Why is this? I thought that crystals only break when they get to 100% wear. Or am I wrong? Is there a chance that they break even when not near 100% wear? I.e. they could break the 2nd time you activate them?

Or is this possibly a bug?

The damage is counted out of 1, so at 0.15 it is 15% damaged. It breaks when it reaches 1, and there is no chance for it to break before that.

You may have encountered a bug, or you may have gotten unlucky with the crystal taking damage very often when firing, speeding up its deterioration.

Worth filing a bug report, or petition you think? There's no way that the crystal went from 0.15dmg -> 1.00 as I had only activated the module about 5 cycles.

Or will they have nothing in their logs (I'm assuming this stuff maybe client side).

Did you check the damage on them before you bought them? Someone might have ripped you off and sold you a used crystal.

You cannot, only via contracts, these were bought from market. And did you read the post? They started off as 0.15 each.
If even they were damaged on every cycle, the most they could go to was 0.20 dmg.

Yes, if it is a bug.

We're all damaged equally ? How did you check ?
If the guns were groupped, and you only checked by moving the cursor over the guns, it shows only the damage on one of the X guns (random / first?). The other crystal could have been damaged more.

Were your weapons grouped? If yes, do you know of BOTH crystals that they were 0.15 damaged?
Have you switched ammo a lot and had other crystals of the same type in your cargohold?

Yes, both were brand new crystals when bought, I didn't have any others in cargo. Both weapons grouped. Also both were at 0.15dmg before use.

Edit: It's possible this happened if one crystal was almost worn out and the other was new or semi damaged, but I'm sure this wasn't the case here. Either way, the crystal damage interface needs a lot of work - even if show properties on a single crystal showed the amount of damage on the crystal when unloaded, that would help, or improvement of the tooltip. I think this has been discussed and requested in another post somewhere.

Most likely I still think you made some mistake that you're not aware off or checked wrongly. But I'm looking towards the reply to that petition.

Will see if it happens again. If it does, it's definately a bug, if not I guess I just ignore it.
