Armor plates and alloyed trit prices flipped flopped?

So i am a bit curious to the story behind this. If i recall around 2 or 3 years ago the price of a armor plate was around 250k and the price of a trit bar was around 125k if i recall correctly.

Now both obviously dropped dramatically in price but what has caused armor plate to now be worth less than the trit bars?

Seems very odd but i have not been keeping up with the markets

The same thing that caused Bistot and Crokite to be worth less than Veldspar. A long time ago, conventional wisdom was that “X is the mot valuable” so people focussed on X at the expense of everything else. So X lost value. But those people haven't updated their knowledge and are still operating on old information.

That's not very likely Mara, I doubt one player in 100 knows what their rats salvage tables are.

It's more likely that certain rigs have become more popular and other rigs have declined while perhaps certain areas have become more extensively salvaged while others have decreased. For instance if Delve and Querious are nullbear friendly then the supply of armour plates goes up, if those regions are filled with pvpers ganking the nullbears then productivity goes down.

Eve's economy is pretty elegant in that it tells the story of what is happening in the game for those able to read the tea leaves.

Not one year ago. At that time, plate were worth more than bars.

Armor Plates are simply way too abundant and more highly "farmed" than ever before, since the love affair between Alloyed Trit Bars and cargo rigs effectively lost it's shine with the BARGE BUFF and well endowed Shocked ore bays.

C'est la guerre.

Ah yes! The ore holds. Of course.

When I started (a mere 1.75yrs ago) Armor was king which didn't make sense since it drops in such happy numbers (if you know where to look). When AT became king that actually made sense since it's less common.

But the ore hold and cargo rig connection definitely changes demand. Gonna have to look into that.

However, there's a much better bit of salvage out there who's high price doesn't fluctuate as much, drops regularly from just about everything, and is used in many popular rigs. Can you guess!?!?! Well, you better cause I ain't gonna tell you.

Armor plates have been trending down for years. Armor rigs and salvaging rigs are probably less popular than they used to be, while people still farm Blood and Sansha rats.

What I find interesting is that tripped power circuits are now worth more than armor plates.

Armor Plates were manipulated for a very long time.

(Linkage #1, Linkage #2, Linkage #3:
halfway through the first thread Liberty Eternal suggests that AC155 did suggest that this was one of the markets EBANK was involved in - which, I guess, is plausible given the verve with which SencneS pushes the idea that armor plates might be useful in PI in thread #2; in thread #3 RAW believes that the manipulation is still on-going more than one year later)
