Fleet Issue Typhoon...loving it.

Been flying a Typhoon for like 3 years for level 4 missions. Finally bit the bullet and blew some cash on the Fleet Issue version, and I'm pretty glad I did. It's a beast. Armor tanking is almost Yawnville with 23k armor and an extra low slot. Faster sub-light speed, more shield and hull...liking it alot with my missile skills.

Anyone else use one?

yes, i like it too. I use it as damage dealer in blood plexes - tanking with another ship.
First shot on a npc-bs => shield down, seconds shot => armor down, third shot => bs down.

What about range on typhoon (FI or regular)? I saw in couple of places that people complained about having to come close to rat to apply full damage? I don't use missiles and torps I use only on hound so don't have real experience with efficiency of those weapon systems. Or sentries basically take care of range issue (if there is any issue with it anyway)?

Most missions involve combat around 60KM or closer. Missiles apply full damage regardless of range (or rather range isn't a factor in the damage they apply), so that's not an issue for a pure launcher Typhoon. I can't speak for a mixed platform Typhoon because I've never used one.

Seems to me that you'd never want BCUs and gryos at the same time.

I did some playing around with faction damage mods, and found that the 2nd gives more of a DPS boost than the first (because its multiplied a higher base value, even if the multiplier is reduced due to stacking) and the 3rd gives nearly the same (>75) damage boost as the first (again, because of the even higher base value it multiplies).

Your fit will be 5:3 guns to launchers or vice versa, obviously you'll want to preferentially boost the 5 - all else being equal your 2nd weapon type damage mods are only doing 3/5ths of what your primary weapon type mods do - so why fit them at all?

However, now that we have drone damage mods... I must consider fits using a BCUs/Gyros and Drone damage mods.

Using drones doesn't come at the expense of another weapon type (except for competing with lows) and the fleet phoon has a large drone bay. You can field 5 heavy or 5 sentry drones (125 m3) + a flight of lights ( 150m3) + a flight of meds (200 m3).

So I'd do 3 lows for drone damage mods (to boost 5 drones), then 3 mods to gyros or BCUs (to boost 5 guns or 5 launchers).

I don't think it makes sense to equip gyros and BCU at the same time.
I think it makes sense to pick 1 high slot weapon system, and focus on that, once you run into severe stacking penalties, focus on drones (or tank, a DC / PDU/SPR if shield tanking) rather than boosting a mere 3 high slot weapons.

So you can fit 3 of the other weapon type in the highs, unsupported by low slots... or you can use them like utility highs for NOS/neuts/drone link augmentors/ remote transfers if in a fleet

I agree about the Gyros/BCUs now I've looked at it again in EFT. Really not worth doing. If you went Cruise and active Shield then you could use the 3 Lows that did have the Armour tank for 3 DDAs, but TBH I'd prefer to keep the Armour tank and use the 4 Mids for TPs. That'd be pretty insane damage application with either Cruise or Torps.

Good info here, thanks all. Regarding those 4 TPs: are they really necessary to apply full/good damage? How are you using them? All at same target or split them between 2 (more?) targets (of course splitting launchers too)? I think they have stacking penalty too? And I assume TPs are useful from cruiser and below class, right?

TPs are always useful, against big targets they provide more explosion velocity but they do have a stacking penalty so maybe there is a better choice for the4th mid.

They do, but the 4th is still worth using in the same way a 4th BCU is still worth using. You could swap it for an Omni for the Drones if you wanted though.

Yeah, I kinda figured they were up there for the upcoming patch, but it is still a little over a month away, and from what I've gathered, they're looking to fits of today. In a month and some's time, Rigors will be the go-to though.

And if nothing else, you can go the way of the Golem and cycle them on multiple different targets so you can chain more easily... painter cycles are so damn long.
