Unfortunately, most people don't understand that the "right" to free speech should not be interpreted as the "right to be an arse." From what I've read in this discussion, the ISD were protecting you from yourself. I'd quietly thank them at this point and walk away.

Of course, as someone who has never had to fight for their freedom, or the freedom of others, you won't, as you feel entitled to your opinion, even if it is stupid.

Never start a fight you can win.

ISD's, GMs, and CCP folks don't need to justify a SINGLE THING to any poster here. This Forum belongs to CCP, is the property of CCP, and there is no kind of freedom of speech here. You want a forum where nobody is ever censored for any reason whatsoever? Start one yourself, and see how long before you start moderating the complete that people post.

I know, I know what the problem is!

It is because blue label CCP DEV is missing, pesky GM is not as cool either at certain times!

But what an outrage, a White Label ISD moderates a witty troll attempt, a title that is not appealing to be trolled at!

Everybody can be happy if a true CCP DEV pays attention and locks a thread, now it is so cool and everyone can see it!

But you ISD come in and ruin all the fun, before a real CCP guy can spawn and excite us all..

It doesn't mean they are wrong either. That being said, this forum is FAR more poster friendly than most.

Try going to the WOT forums and complaining that the Russian Dev team is playing favorites by making Russian tanks overpowered. Big smile

Thanks everyone for the replies. A few people mentioned the thread should be in a different place on the forums and have a good point. I appreciate the nice reply from an ISD but i do think it missed the point of this thread.

I wasnt refering to the thread posted by someone else but more the thread i posted earlier on which was closed down super quick for reasons i couldnt really get a hold on.

For those of you who asked why i posted this in a forum in the first place and what the justification of this is i think you may need to put some more thought into the purpose of a Forum, in my eyes its a place to exchange view points and ideas. I find that very hard to do when some of those ideas are censored out which was the issue i was raising.

The ISD reply cleared a bit up which is great and its nice to see the thread not locked, im also well aware i have no rights for anything i say to be on this forum. I do however play the game a fair amount and i love the community that surrounds it, my fear is an extending censorship that could in future cause problems.

This is after all marketed as an adult game with a sandbox mentality with allot of freedom to do things that would be considered immoral in the real world, i assumed the forums would reflect that and for a time they did.

Im not sure if this is directed at me or not, i never made a claim ot have a right to free speech. I also never said anything i would consider being an arse, i think i asked the question pretty politely actually. I dont expect anything with regards to free speech but it would be nice if we as paying customers were granted that to a point.

Im not expecting to able to post up pron and insult the developers, but i think discussing forum moderation on a forum is perfectly reasonable.

No, it's really not.

The only result is long protracted debates that will ultimately achieve nothing except to give the forum trolls a golden opportunity to try and whip the easily confused into a frenzy.

The forum rules here are not overly strict, and pretty easy to figure out. If you have questions, there are avenues open to you to have your questions answered. Debating them in another thread is not one of them, for the reasons mentioned above.

At their discretion they can cut a poster some slack now and again, as they are doing in this thread.
