CCP, this all brings up an old idea for a change, and my own twist to it.

The reason CCP's policy is "No name changes" is your rep is tied to your name. But, in many ways that rep is actually the rep of the player, not the character. If the character is sold to a different player, the character rep is largely irrelevant. So how about:

When buying a character from another player, you can also buy for a PLEX a name change. This can only be done if the transfer is to another player, not between two accounts owned by one player, and only once a year.

Yes, there is an issue of people hiding who owns an account from CCP, and you could always transfer it to yourself by using an intermediary (expansive). But Sreegs is on the first, and the cost of the second is a big dis-incentive.

You already mentioned why not.

The only thing you got wrong was that having a cost involved made for strong enough dis-incentive.

Awesome response's but if u all actually read the thread...i bought a pilot fromt he bassar so its not this pilot ..son of noc. its another called Bev Bim , so there no clue what bev bim means but ill use it wisely n proudly thx all this was the most active thread i ever made lol fly safe

Then how about adding a rule: Once you sell a pilot, you can never buy it back on any of your accounts.

Adding to this a bit.

You can find the EVE Online naming policy here:

As Falcon says, we generally do not give exceptions to this policy. The name you pick stays with your character.

Known exception is when you have just made a character and made an unfortunate typo and petition it immediately. This only applies to typos and issues with upper/lower case characters. As per the naming policy, this applies to alliance and corporation names as well. No requests are guaranteed to be granted.
Also if your character name is offensive in some way you can petition to have it changed, no disciplinary actions are taken against players that report themselves. Again, no requests are guaranteed to be granted.


o m g... that's what happened to this toon. As usual - unpublished policies are useless to customers. *(@^%#%@*!

CCP fixed my name for me a few years back, I typed to fast when I made it and ended up with Jake RIvers (note the capital I) glad they fixed it for me, it does still show up on eveboard and battleclinic that way though.

Bad reps should always follow a character, I don't care who buys it, burned bridges must remain burned. If you don't like it, don't buy the toon, get stuck with a bad toon, sell it.

player bought a character well knowing the name, but figures out he might be primaried in fleet fights if the enemy FC calls out pilots by name... So he wants to rename to zomething with z or maybe a letter in teh middle of the alphabet. Good luck hehe...

Still think CCP should remove sorting by alphabet in the overview though. Takes away a small option but makes fleet fights more challenging...
