Which ship would you recommend me?

I want to try to hunt alone in lowsec territory, but I don't know which ship would suit perfectly with that role. I'm Gallente and someone recommended me to use a Ishkur. What do you think? Would you recommend me another ship instead of that? Any fitting or strategy that you think that would be useful?

I'm trying to convince a friend to help me with his Drake, but he probably loves his ship too much, hahaha.

Good day:

If you didn't want to fly an Incursus to start, then I would recommend the Taranis to learn both brawling (anti-matter S) and kiting (null S) before going with the Ishkur.

While I've done combat in the Ishkur, I find others either want to avoid it or try to get friends to join in rather than 1v1 it.

Thank you.

you will die a lot at first...and for a while...it depends how much you have to spend and what sort of fighting style you prefer...i would recommend to begin in incursus probably or possibly one of the t1 cruisers fit to mostly kill frigs..youll make a lot of stupid mistakes at first (most everyone does) so they might as well be fairly cheap

Taranis and Ishkurs are great frigates to pew with.

And if you want to learn to pvp join factional warfare. Lots of corps and fleets for you to learn and fly with.

Meh.. not a fan of low sec frigate PVP..

To many times when you simply can not engage because of gate guns.

That's because you are doing the wrong kind of low sec frigate PVP.

Start with ships you can afford to lose.... then when you get into the low space thing, slowly get better ships. Any cloaky will do.

Cloaky Proteus. Select your target, decloak on top, gank away and be gone before his friends arrive.

Enyo is often underestimated, and alot easier to get into fights with rather then the taranis or ishkur.

And a sudden plunge in the sullen swell. Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell.

My favorite is the Ishkur personally. Although I'll probably never be as good as some pilots in the Militia with them, like Bluejacket.

Saw a Cane on d-scan so I warped to a random belt and there he was. Called point, ECM drones on him the rest of my frig gang arrived half a minute later. The Cane never managed to even get me into armor.

Hmm,

Sounds like you're a little low in your skills yet. But if i were you, i would shoot long term for the triple rep myrmidon. Its a little tight to fit, but if you have good drone skills, its a beast and can take on 3-4 ships its size easily.

To get good drone skills required 10m+ in drones, I would fly minmatar ships, they are fast, you can load em up for pure speed DPS and light tank with fairly minimum skills. The rifter, thrasher, rupture and cane, are some of the easier ships in the game to fly, and are loads of fun imo. Helps with a new character to begin to max out all secondary skills in gunnery because that will free you up later to get hybrids/lasers if you want. Also getting you nav skills up early is quitehelpful instead of worrying about drone skills and better armor tanking skills, plus those armor ships move like a brick.

Depends on what you want to do... If you are hunting ratters then an Ishkur can be a great ship.

If you want to step it up to the next level then you should try an Anti-Inty Ranis or maybe a Dual Rep Brutix / Myrmidon.

Honestly, I usually have more fun in a Ranis playing with blobs than I do in most bigger ships. The speed leads to some very exciting fights.

Dont do low sec PvP do NPC Null-sec near high sec entrances. That way there are no gate guns or sec status BS. You can dock at the stations. Best of all there will be people filtering through trying to get home from the high sec hubs.

Try out an arty thrasher or rupture and a small anchor-able bubble on the out gate lined up with the entrance gate. Arty thrashers are underrated, underestimated (meaning some cocky frigate pilot might not try to run right away), and dirt cheap. The t2 small arty spec IV and destroyers IV takes only a couple weeks, if that.

As someone currently experimenting with Gallente ships I'd Recommend you start with a Tristan or Incursus (400mm plate + 75mm rails + anti matter for incursus) or the Ion + rocket Tristan. I fly my tristan all the time and I absolutely love it. Once you get a feel for if you prefer kiting or brawling I'd move on to either the Ishkur, enyo or taranis.

Eventually you can get into a thorax or vexor as well and then the myrmidon. For the smaller ships It's VERY easy to get T2 drones since you won't be using sentries or heavies. Less than 1 mil SP. If you wanna pimp out your Smalls and mediums then you looking at about 2mil sp - very very short compared to other weapons.

Lowsec PVP is best PVP.

There isn't one. The more ships you can fly the more options you have in terms of what you can engage, so I'd suggest you train to fly different classes of ships so you have a choice of tools and can pick the right one for the job. When "roaming" it's a matter of looking for fights that the ship you're piloting is suited for - i.e. pick your fights

Gallente normally use close range weapons (blasters & drones) so they have to commit to fights which makes it harder to run away if things go bad. So basically, if you're willing to lose your ship going down fighting then they're perfect :)

If you want to fight guerilla style "hit and run" then you want a ship that can "kite" (maintain range using superior speed and agility) but there are very few Gallente ships that do this properly (I can only think of the nano -shield Ishtar). Obviously interceptors are fast & agile so the Taranis is also a good choice. Another problem with using guerilla tactics is that fitting armor plates slows you down so ideally you want to shield tank but unfortunately, Gallente don't do this well because they lack the midslots for it.

Other Gallente ships worth trying in lowsec are:
Comet - Relatively expensive but fast, agile & can shield tank as well as (better than?) it armor tanks
Thorax/Vexor - Cheap & can shield tank almost as well as they armor tank
Myrm/Brutix - Cheap and high damage/tank but not good for guerilla pvp

Notice that being cheap (and thus disposable) is a common factor here.

It's always useful to have a friend or two to fly with because it gives you more options when engaging targets which hopefully results in more fights. Having friends shouldn't stop you soloing or accepting 1v1s as they will just stay away - unless you fly with killmail whores (always a bad idea).

However, if your friend really is worrried about losing his Drake then he should fly something else (cheaper?). One of the golden rules of PvP is "always fly what you're willing to lose". This is also good advice for you since (as a result of their "all or nothing" pvp style) this is true of Gallente more than any other race.

Blaster thorax with ECM drones. I found ECM gave me more combat effectiveness but the DPS of neutrons + 5 hammerheads is smexy.

Step 1) MWD/web/scram/drones
Step 2) F1-5 + overheat
Step 3) Watch and speculate (you can replace this step with ????)
Step 4) Profit

This setup requires no real piloting skills (approach/orbit 500 + activate modules/drones), is cheap both ISK-wise and SP-wise and is surprisingly effective. I got an alt to -6 with 3 thoraxes.

Rule 1: Attack anything your size and down that you can catch
Rule 2: Avoid anything bigger then you and anything you can't catch

The bigger your balls (or your wallet), the more you ignore rule 2.

In case you can't figure out the fit (use meta/T2 depending on fitting skills):
5x Ions
MWD/scram/web
3x mag stabs/1 TE/1 DCU (fit resists if you want, but this is the skullfuck fit)

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

Good day:

Those that rely on ECM drones (lame) typically find themselves countered when people realize the pilot needs them to win.

thank you.

This isn't gonna be what you want to hear but...

Invest a little time into training Winmatar.

I'm Gallente too, and after loosing a few Incursus to "Kiting-fits", I decided:
"If you can't beat-em, join-em."
I trained for a few days and built an Arty Thrasher.
It's lots of fun, and cheap too. Try it. Don't argue, just do it. ;)
You will be-able to take almost any frig. Stay away from the stuff that can carry lots of drones, or missiles.
MWD-ing fast frigs are tough but doable.
AB frigs are kinda sitting-ducks vs you.

I'm still new (to PVP), so take it with a grain-of-salt.
Don't spend too-much and have fun!
