Why are they getting so crazy expensive? Seems like in the last month they have gone up 100mil... Ugh

Open market is open? Shocked

It's what happens when a game company gets into the RMT business. Everyone's a billionaire now and can easily pay more for plex.

I'm not worried about the isk... I gots plenty Bear (noes you can't have any)... I just think its rather odd how much the plex inflatted in the past month. The market is the market... I play price wars too on a few select items.

CCP have demonstrated that the game known as Eve Online is going to features in it that the bulk of the playerbase want. Demand rises. Hopefully demand will subside as some of these players run out of ingame currency an return to credit card payments.

Its because thousands are being sold on ebay and other online means, and CCP not giving a damn.

P.S. Nice dev blog, actions speak louder than words.

I'd moreso think its the people whom pay with their IRL subscriptions choosing to pay for their accounts with Plex in protest of CCP.

Therefor less people actualy willing to fork out IRL cash to buy the plex, there for less supply, more demand.

Someone's messing with the market driving prices up probably. Look at all the plex's up for 4 bill instead of mil. It drives the average price up so people think they are worth more when you look at eve's average market price.

People like me unfortunatly. Wanted to keep on playing but didn't want to pay so sold my char and bought 6 years of Plex. You will be amazed how many other people are doing it .. Hope CCP is not spending it all though ..

P.S. Sold = Legit not ebay BTW ..

Things should settle down sooner or later.

A lot of peeps will stop using plex once prices go higher since it won't be worth the grind and many people will start buying GTC because of the amount of isk they will get for their 30 bucks.

That is a great idea that hadn't occured to me. Thank you for that. Though ultimately it's already CCP's money once it's turned into plex, it just remains un-redeemed it isn't a liability at all to CCP.

LOL i have to say something about this you do know SOMEONE had to buy that plex with IRL cash in the first place right?
using plex has never been FREE game time, someone payed CCP money for that game time.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

Of course someone bought it and CCP got their money, but when incarna hit, I switched from credit card payment to plex.

Not because of some form of 'protest' BS, but simply because I figured I'd not continue playing in the long run if CCP kept on heading down that road - so i may just burn the virtual currency belonging to CCP anyway to keep skilling in case CCP came to their senses again.

I didn't give a **** about how much money CCP might or might not make, as long as it's not my money...

What I hate (and thankfully it has not happened here) is when someone says if you can't afford it either switch to real cash payments or quit playing. Of course then they go on to tell you they plex multiple accounts and make so much ISK per hour and yet never tell you how. Some folks are on a fixed income you know and while $15 is less than beer at the bar it is also 1/3 a tank of gas.

At one point I had 3 accounts this one paid for monthly and 2 plexed. I let my noob account go because I just started when PLEX prices in game were lower because I was considering selling it eventually (in game legally). I decided I do not want to grind and support 2 accounts with plexes (if you recall one more is paid for monthly), and then implants, ships and fittings. I can however comfortably support and have fun with my 2 "partner" accounts (they work as a team). When I mentioned it in chat I had folks giving me a hard time telling me I was not playing my game right if I could not afford to plex 2 accounts. I thought that was idiotic especially when I asked then what do I need to do to do it right I got no answer.

Plexes being up means someone is making ISK off buying them out of game and I am happy for them. I can't say I have not been tempted to do so as well. However PLEXES being up does mean some players are having to switch around what and how they do things like me for instance and I think this trend and the 400M+ price point is here to stay if it does not go up again now ship spinning is back.

It's a tad more complex ..

1) Everyone buys 6 years of plex and CCP (Because someone had to buy the plex from CCP) gets a huge boost in income in year 1 (Because they are bought beforehand).

2) Noone buys any Plex or subscription for 5 years because their game time is all payed up already from year 1 when "someone" bought the Plex.

3) CCP has a huge sugar injection in Year 1 of cash but no returns for 5 years assuming they don't factor in many many other ways for people to want to buy Plex.

A bit like what is going on IRL Economy right now .. Companies run down their inventories (in this case Plex to Game Time).

Basically I saw that I could sell a char, buy X years of game time and ride out having any outgoings for X years. It means CCP gets a boost to their income right now but no more income from me for 5 or 6 years .. That is dangerous.

And guess why the price is going up? Because everyone is doing it .. So lack of supply = Increased price.

i'd say a fair bit of why plex are gone expensive is due to real life.

people in EU, USA, and UK are really being hammered by tax hikes, inflation, and rising unemployment and decreasing welfare benefits.

less people are resubbing eve online with real money, and less people are buying gtcs to convert into plex.

less supply+ more demand = higher prices

Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs.
