BC skill plan pre-retribution

Currently I'm on a pre-retribution ship command marathon. I will have all race frigs to IV and dessi V before they split the dessi skill up this winter. I'm hoping that I can save some training time in the future by being able to fly them all before the next expansion. Has any one heard talk of the battle cruiser skill being split into the race specific tree this winter? I want to know if I should bother with pushing it up to V as well. If so, I will be mid bcV when retribution goes live. If they split the BC skill while I'm training it what happens?

Edit: when remapping, is it generally a good idea to split points up between primary & seconday attributes or will it be better to just dump them all onto the primary, putting whatever is left on the secondary? How might that effect me outside of skill training if at all?

Primary yields 2 times secondary

Skill Points per Hour = 60 * ( primary + secondary / 2)
