Hello,

We was discussing salvage drones in the Minerals & Manufacturing channel and the idea of tractor drones came up. Basically its a drone that will bring wrecks to your ship. Automatic tractor beams. It could possibly be a heavy drone of some sort, and have both drone skills and modules affect their range and speed.

They shouldnt become a tractor beam replacement, which means they should have mediocre skill requirements. The basic premise is you progress from flying to wrecks manually, to using tractor beams, to using tractor drones or both.

The reason i like this over salvage drones is it leaves more choice to the players, and their use is not only limited to mission runners. For example one could imagine fleet fights where these drones were deployed either to gather and loot wrecks, or to gather and destroy them depending on wether you would be the victor or not. Sort of like blowing up the bridges behind you to thwart your enemy.

If we have drones that go out and salvage wrecks for us, what would be the point in ones that only bring the wreck to you. Or what would you need to bring the wreck to you for; if you're going to salvage it, just use salvage drones.

I don't understand the point of the drones you're suggesting.

What if we could have automatic mining drones that mine for you, kill rats, scoop their wrecks, salvage them, and sort everything in your hangar while you're offline? Smile

Salvaging does not = looting, for one.

I can see his point, the wrecks are dragged by the drones to a point conveniently close and you then you decide whether to loot, salvage, or destroy from that point.

Some people would prefer this, others would prefer just salvaging via drone (if they have no intention of looting due to flagging issues)... although you really can't tractor something if it isn't yours to begin with.

Not a huge game changer either way, but I don't see why not at some point.

Great implement this CCP , the new players are having a ROUGH time in this game Roll


Also i propose


- Autopilot warping to 0 at all times
- automated pos sieges
- automated sales. Just buy something and once the local market rises above percentage X it get's autosold saving the traders also a lot of repetitive work
-D-scan working the same as when you would use probes.Making it possible to find all wormholes/plex's with a simple push on the button
-an alarm going off if a neut/red enters your null system
-an alarm going off when a wartargets enters your system , also implemented for high-sec offfcourse

They are superior in that they leave more choice to the player, rather than being a dumbed down drone with only 1 purpose

I got curious about tractor pulling a while back (just because I thought it was weird and crazy for a motor sport) and found that most of the videos of it weren't even from the United States.
