when i hit my first bil, i see in eve central that some implants were sell for 800 mil together in kador and bought in jita for 900 odd mil, i buy them all and put it in noob ship and head to jita to camoflauge with other noobs, in uedama or niarja (dont remembr which one) i saw ships with waves coming from them, i thought i was going to be killed becase i assume they were to stop warp (warp bubble), i somehow escaped and swore never to carry all eggs in one basket again, i later learn they are only sensor boosts lol and that warp bubble probles cant be used in hi sec

lets see, 4 months after starting, FC'ed a fleet of frigs into lowsec (We were a mining corp with some australian pvp/mercs in our corp to help with wardecs), came up to a bait-ship sitting 150k off gate that warped off to belt after taunting in local. THAT is when i made the stpidest mistake ever, i got pissed at what was said in local, so i demanded all my corp members within 20jumps come immediately in whatever combat ship they had, pve or pvp, ended up losing a couple faction fit abbadons.

same constellation, month or so later, same people in fleet, go into system, this time were a frig/BC gang, come upon a faction-fit vindicator being used as a bait ship, we warp on after it to a belt, 4 carriers show up to drop us, carriers just sit there and watch as we melt the vindi and it pops, THEN the carriers kill us horribly (except for one aussie in an interceptor that got away), and even after losing a decent T2 fit BC gang, the vindi kill was still worth over twice what we lost.

and thats pretty much the high and low of my first 6 months in eve.

*edit* not really dumb, but fun story, i once sat in jita and said i would say nice things about anyone who gave me 5mil, earned roughly 250mil, left jita with no money and a bestower full of exotic dancers.

...loaded up everything I could afford in Jita (1.4 billion... everything I had at the time) into a stabbed Badger II and tried to make it to a station in Esoteria. I made it to one jump from my system when the pirates, who had been chasing me for 20 jumps, finally caught e and promptly sent my pod back to empire. Good day for them. Hard recovery for me. Big smile

I had flown what I couldn't afford to loose, violating one of the most important rules in EvE. Cry

Here's my dumbest thing as a noob (and a history lesson for those interested). It's a long one, spanning well over a year.

After some wandering around for the first few months after launch, I managed to join Techell, the biggest industrial corp back in 2003. Big enough to have built the majority of battleships used in the first two years of the game.. As a trading rep, I was basically chained to their station in Algogille, spending all my time with stacks of trade panels. ISK was scarce back then so people tried to avoid sales tax, and most deals were done BYOM, because mining was still the easiest way to make money.

This was however without me receiving, nor expecting a single ISK for my effort. I was a loyal, but gullible worker-bee. Bear

At some point a new trading rep named Falzone got fed up with the slave-labour attitude in Techell, so he cleaned out the dozens of battleships lying in the trade hangar. Next thing, everybody except the CEO and the three Directors were stripped of all access and with all further sales going through the market from that day on.

I really don't remember why the hell I stuck around after that (2nd biggest mistake).

At the time of the corp-theft the battleship sales were already starting to slow down due to increasing competition from Taggart Transdimensional (them eventually able to build most of the battleship types) and more, smaller corporations finally wealthy enough to buy a BPO as well (in comparison: by then Techell had probably about 20 separate battleship BPOs). This slow-down encouraged leadership to make some spectacular bad business decisions.

First an effort to monopolize the supply from zyd from 0.0 by bribing the biggest suppliers. This got the attention of some pirate and protest groups, resulting in multiple wardecs for several months, paralyzing the corp, causing an exodus of members, and resulting in many suppliers and steady customers to take their business elsewhere.

Then CCP decides to seed some Cap Recharger II BPOs (I think it was through some in-game event), which Techell desperately tries to get a hold off in an attempt to get firmly on the starting T2 bandwagon (we were already making Miner II). While we did manage to buy 3 out of the initial 4 BPOs, the costs were billions of ISK (insane amount of money back then) and being on the receiving end of a public sh*tstorm. X

The community boycott meant that Techell had a very hard time getting T2 building materials and many players simply refused to use T2 Cap Rechargers, especially not at a price-level that would have allowed Techell to earn back its investment. As more and more T2 BPOs were released (including T2 Cap Rechargers), NAGA stepped in with a 'lease-us-your-T2-BPO' program and a revolutionary in-game shopping site, single-handedly taking over the T2 industry.

After that, the battered CEO of Techell quit and most of the Directors with him. The new CEO then kicked out most of the remaining members, myself included. He spent the rest of his days probably playing Scrooge McDuck after having liquidated the corps still impressive list of assets.

So...

Dumbest thing I've did in EVE as a noob? Thinking mindless hard work would eventually rewarded, following corp leadership without question. Making this game a second job, yet having sold hundreds and hundreds of battleships for one of the most successful industrial corporations this game has seen, without earning enough ISK to actually buy one myself. Lol

After this I simply started over from scratch with a new character, and joined my brother who was with ATUK at that time, having way more fun destroying coalitions all over 0.0 (official alliances didn't exist yet).

Operation WRITE DOWN ALL THE THINGS!!!  Check out the list at http://bit.ly/wdatt Collecting and compiling all fixes and ideas for EVE. Looking for more editors!
