After a long absence from the game I have returned to the new confusion that is ice mining

For solo mining work what would you use for maximum yield now the mack doesn't get the bonus?
What's the best cycle time you can achieve?
This is semi afk too.

I'd still go with the mack just for the large cargohold. Toss on the new rigs and some ice mining upgrades and go in a belt that isn't under interdiction.

The mack and the retriever both have very large ore bays.

The mack has about i believe 9k more in its ore bay and being a exhumer can also mine a bit more with its bonus.

I had a alt with a mack and my main in a retriever and they both filled up in about the same time so the mack will bring in more ore

Using a mack is just a ******* lazy way of mining. Use a hulk, jetcan mine then pickup every hour 45 minutes, max profit. I dont get why people mine for profit but then go lazy about it and use a mack.

If they're mining for profit, why would they be mining ice?

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

With proper boosts and a good system nullsec mining can be very profitable. Upsides to ore is you dont have down time of rocks popping ect, if you compress the darkglitter you can make a big chunk of isk. One should only mine ice in empire if they really need it for thier pos.

With utterly max-Skill and Yeti-fit toons (Orca Booster Alt Skills at V, etc) the Hulk will give you 3 Cubes every 140.5 seconds (2 minutes and 20 seconds in this math education deprived society).

Oh dear lord not this again.

The mack outmines the hulk solo. It's been pretty exhaustively proven here and elsewhere. A hulk doesn't start to outmine the mack until you get 4+ miners in a belt with an Orca boost. I've mined with both, in every scenario I can think of (solo all the way up to a 10-man gang with Orca providing logistics and boost). The Mack wins until you get 4 miners into play; then the Hulk pulls ahead.

pretty sure it's 3....

according to my spreadsheet that i knocked up around the time the latest patch came out, the one i used to point out that the dev blog wasn't using rorq bonuses or something (check it, there's an edit in the dev blog), 2 hulks + orca > 3 macks. also, that doesn't take in to account all the flying back and forth the macks have to do.

at 3 accounts, the orca is worth using. however even at 2 accounts there's really no need for more than one mackinaw, jetcan mine with your hulk and instantly scoop it up with the mackinaw. just treat the mackinaw as an industrial with amazing mining yield. mack + hulk > 2 macks.

heh i do that with a hulk and a ret while watching sons of anarchy.
all you do is tab back to the game every few mins and drag ore. if you're not at the computer the roids will pop so tabbing back and forth is no big deal.

Do not AFK mine , that is just a open invitation for the gankers to get yourself killed and don't be lured into a false sense of security with the buffed up stats , tank your barge/exhimer, that third low slot on your mack is NOT for a third MLU

and this is why your mack's third low slot is for an mlu.

if you wanted a ship with high ehp you wouldn't be in a mack to begin with.
