making macks more vulnerable to ganking may serve as some punishment for afk mining and encourage active miners. i wouldnt mind that at all.

but if we are talking about making the mack less tanky than the hulk, i'm much less sure of that, as it naturally makes sense to make the highest yield barge the least tanked. its in-the-box thinking i know, but for good reason

Certainly not less tanky than the Hulk. Preferaby not that considerably less tanky than it is now.

Enough to make the risk of player attack quite legitimate into at least 0.7 space would honestly seem like a very good solution.

The Skiff would gain some popularity for those wishing to remain "safe."

The Hulk would gain some popularity for those wishing to forego mediocrity for "yield."

And the Mackinaw would still be wildly popular for its sturdy EHP, impressive yield, and cavernous ore bay.

sounds decent (especially the bold) and not a massive change. slight enough that it could slip into a future expansion.

Exactly
Its a specific type, with a specific hold to go in. dnt need bigger ore holds, the mack can already mine for an hour without needing to dock. and the hulk doesnt need a hold at all when used properly

i agree and disagree at the same time...

with continuos mining at the belt the size of ore hold does not really matter. but i have been talking about something else...

mining missions are not really the hottest part of eve but a crucial one for a miner in order to gain standing.
the current situation makes impossible to complete the half of level 3 mining missions in a single run with hulk.
I do not consider reasonable to buy an extra T2 mining ship worth 200M for level 3 mining missions rewarding some 300K.
if nothing else, the Hulk ore hold should be at least 9000 m3 as this is the capacity needed to complete the missions.

and i still consider sensible, that it should be possible to finish missions with mission objective cargo in ore hold.
