Do bubbles cause decloaking?

Twice now I have been decloaked while in a bubble. The last time, I was cloaked in system and
warped to within 100 km of a gate. I found myself in a bubble with no visible ships around, and immediately double clicked on
a point in space to begin moving out of the bubble. Within 3 seconds I decloaked, and about another 3-4 seconds later exited
the bubble. As soon as I exited, I hit the cloak and cloaked up. I was flying a helios with the cov ops cloak.

No, not unless it's one of those deployable bubbles and you were in the process of trying to use a hacking module on it for some reason

From what I understand, and that ain't much, you are uncloaked by cans set at the bubble.

Watch this on how to avoid getting caught in the trap.

There are two obvious possibilities:

You landed in a small bubble. As those are only 5km in diameter, it is likely that you will get decloaked by the bubble emitter itself.

As Jesuis already mentioned, you got decloaked by some debris (cans, wrecks, drones...) left on the edge of the bubble, intentionally or not. Perhaps a wreck of somebody who tried it before you.

Ha! That's funny. Maybe the wreck and / or the corpse...IDK, can a corpse decloak you?

I setup bubbles and like to gank covops ships that land in them....

Ships, Cans, Wrecks, Corpses, drones, probes, and most other space debris will decloak your ship.

The bubble's field will NOT decloak your ship (but a POS force field will). The Mobile Small Warp Bubble itself can decloak your ship too....

it sounds like you flew into a small 5km drag bubble and as you attempted to remove yourself moved within 2.5k within a can or the bubble generator itself

Ah...that's good to know. I have yet to venture out of hi-sec yet. BUT..when I do, I want to be somewhat expectant of the trials laid forth by the local.

According to the vid I linked earlier, if you are careful and deliberate in your travels, by not warping gate to gate, you should avoid the bubbles.

How does that work exactly? I mean the Drag Bubble placement. Do they have to be placed in a direct line of the incoming warped vessel? If so, why does the local not completely engulf the gate to start with?

EDIT : Nvmd/ There is a good bit of gate info out there.

This was a Mobile Small Warp Bubble. So it itself can decloak?
And there weren't any cans, wrecks, etc. visible on screen.

It can decloak you because of its radius, anything within 2000m of your ship will make your cloak drop.
Corpses are useful to decloak at bubbles, they don't have a bracket in space and only show on the overview if you have "Biomass" selected in the filter.

There is a ton of info out there.... but just so people are informed here... (and because bubble mechanics have changed some)...

When inside a Warp Disruption Bubble, you cannot warp.... to warp away... you must power out of the bubble and then warp...

If you draw a line from your "warp from" celestial through your "warp to" celestial, any bubble placed on this line will pull you away from your warp destination and deposit you near the edge of the warp bubble. Notice I said "through", which means bubbles, when properly aligned, will pull you beyond your destination (typically a gate) to the bubble's edge, or will stop your warp short and again deposit you on the bubble's edge....

Bubbles used to only pull 100 km's.... this is NOT True anymore.... a bubble will pull the ENTIRE length of a grid. Grid sizes vary, and can be expanded 1000+ km's using grid-fu (google that term for details on grids). Be it out of habit, or spite, most people place bubbles about 100 km's from gates. At this distance, any person caught in the bubble needs to power 100 km's to the gate, which is annoying enough they typically blow up your bubble. I personally like to place bubbles 250-350 km's from gates, as this allows anyone "to big for me to solo" to simply warp to gate and move on quickly. It also allows any friends of mine on the other side of the gate to come into system and warp to me.

In nullsec, you will find drag bubbles like I mentioned, which are very easy to avoid: make unaligned bookmarks at every gate for safest travel, or bounce off random celestials (anomalies are perfect for this actually) for moderately safe travel. Unfortunately, many hostiles use other tactics to be more efficient at killing... You'll find gate camps that use dictor, hictors, or even large bubbles to bubble an entire gate.... These cannot be "circumvented", and you pretty much have to MWD through them.... which is extremely dangerous if there is a gang on grid!

You can warp into a force field and remain cloaked, as long as you are not in de-cloaking range of something.

POS's are weird.... You cannot cloak when inside the POS force field, and if you get too close to the POS force field edge it will decloak you... but there is a sweetspot that you can warp into the POS and remain cloaked (assuming nothing is in de-cloak range).

Warping through planets will also sometimes decloak you...

the bubble didnt decloak you. The small basketball-shaped object that emits the bubble decloaked you because you got too close to it.

FC, what do?

This isn't quite true anymore. I've passed through so many old anchored midpoint bubbles it's not funny. But if you are at a point of warp field collapse (i.e. coming on top of a gate/celestial) it is true.

Confirming, Midpoint bubbles don't work anymore. Stop and Drag bubbles however do.

Stop bubble = bubble just in front of your destination, means you have to slowboat towards your destination (gate/station) and thus being able to get shot at.

Drag bubble = bubble behind your destination that pulls you in. It means you have to turn around 180 degree and slowboat to your destination, rest see stop bubble.

*Ooh and when deploying them, don't fail like I once encountered, a drag bubble that pulled you in at 151km behind the gate, so turned around and warped to the gate and jumped just after I laughed at them in local*
