Retriever Gank Question

If one is only skilled in caldari ships and missiles what can I gank retrievers in and is it even possible in a caldari ship with missiles?

If possible could you recomend a fit.

I was going to try it in a Ham Caracal fit strictly for dps no shields but I dont htink I will have the DPS before concord arrives.


This will be a solo gank.

Please Help!

People still gank miners? What on earth for. Its tiresome, as dull as the mining itself and is so unrewarding. If you wanna fly a Caracal, join FW buy 20 of them and go run medium plexes. Not only will you make **** tons of isk, You'll get engaging pvp and forget why you even gave a **** about a miner.

Really, 2010s over. Time to leave the bunnies alone and go play with something that's worth killing.

Don't ask about Italics, just tilt your head.

Here I fixed that for you.

OP Caldari missile boats cant gank sh!t especially the new retrievers you will need some company inorder to gank a miner in a caldari missile boat IMO. The clue should have been the large number of responses to your post or shall I say the lack there of.


I am an Indy and miner and I say gank them all less competition out there.

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.

The short answer is: To my knowledge, solo, and in a missile boat I do not think you will find it possible to even gank a Hulk in .5 space before Concord reaches you.

I may be mistaken there, but I believe only gunships have a chance in hell of taking them out, and even then its only certain ones (Thrasher, Catalyst, Tornado, maybe an Oracle, BS's and up).

With the latest changes to mining barges, it is next to impossible to take out most of them without help. I'm sure some of the more experienced suicide gankers will stop in at some point and explain better, a lot of them do hit the forums.

Yeah, because I don't think the ganking of non pvp ship is funny or good pvp I must wanna save my mining rights. Jesus, thank god I'm in a corp with some pride. Sure we gank **** all the time, but in the odd little space called Losec. Where most people expect pvp.

And yes I do like everyone else have indy toons. Cause as you've shown having one makes you able to say "gank them" and it win an argument.....RollRollRoll.

Next you'll be saying it okay to eat dolphin because you seen them swim or some ****.

Edit, O and Yes Missile boats can Ganker a Hulk at lease, Though if you wanna use a cruiser wait till December 5th and wait for the extra 2 low slots.

Eh, The delay I would guess would not mean much anyway, as you are going to die regardless, and the missiles can still kill him after you are dead as long as they are in the air.

It just seems to be the applied raw alpha and dps is not as good. I am just guessing however.

I never said it wasn't pvp, i said it wasn't pvp I find fun. I also never said it shouldn't be in the game, only that its pointless. In my opinion. Could be wrong, but pretty sure peoples are still allowed those.

Missiles have flight time to target and that works against you (the time factor) in a gank. So if you really want to do this your best bet is an alpha strike with missiles. It will be very costly though as concord will kill your ship as well. A cheap misile boat will not be able to alpha strike a retriever.

You will probably be much better off with blasters, even if your skills aren't great n them. For caldari missile boats a Naga or torp raven is probably your best bet, but that is a fair bit of isk just to gank a ret? Before the barge changes you could easily gank a ret with 2 blaster fit cormorant, or probably even one with good skills.

Hmmm... Target painting, dual bc manticore? If in .5, you may get 2 vollies off, which might kill a retriever. Less costly than a raven, but may work. Mau us the key term though.

Put a passive targeter and ship scanner on a frigate. Go to the belts, find your target. Passive target him and see what fitting modules he has in place. (do not engage a procurer) Observe his tank and size him up. If he has Adaptive invulns on, observe whether they are active.

Reship to a blaster boat (Moa, Cormorant, Catalyst, Thorax) or a high alpha ship. Ensure that you have book marked a location close to your target. Warp directly on top of him, over heat blasters and fire.

Do not use missiles. It most likely can be done but it is ineffective.
